Old Door Jamb Loose

Hello All!
I live in a brick row house built around 1900 and I am installing an entry door in an old jamb. I just realized that the jamb is slightly loose (it wobbles a bit when I push against it). The door in question is the interior entry door of the vestibule (the second door as you enter the house and walk through a small vestibule). I don't know if the jamb is attached to a wood stud or if it is attached directly to the brick. I've heard that jambs in old houses are attached to a stud that is embedded in the brick. If this is the case can I just use a very long screw to sure up the loose jamb? What if the jamb is attached directly to the brick? Thanks so much for any suggestions!
