Victorian Second Empire - stained glass?

| I'm buying a Second Empire Victorian, late in the period, so it is somewhat understated in interior/exterior decor/design. My question is whether the transom windows (exterior and interior) would have originally had stained glass. It appears that some have been replaced, but I have not seen pictures of Second Empires with original stained glass to know whether this period used them - ca. 1890. Philadelphia, PA area home.
If it is possible that these homes did have stained glass, what might have the design/colors have been? clear, colored, complex, simple? |

| jwerry, I seem to remember the transoms on houses there being both stained glass and plain if that makes sense. AS you drive down the street, what to the neighboring houses have? There might be some very similar houses right near by that can give you an idea of what was used. There are some really nice salvage places in that area so finding replacements might not be too difficult. If you dont' really see anything that looks that similar, I think putting some in that suit your own decorating style if fine, too. Good luck with your new home. |

| Yes, some did. Not very elaborate stained glass, though. |

Is 1903 considered Second Empire? If so I have pictures of some transom windows in my 1903 house that may be helpful. They are a sunroom off the living room
