Kerosene smell in wood

User

Help!!! While building my new log cabin some of the construction helpers used a defective kerosene heater that was not burning correctly. The kerosene smell permeated the log walls and still persists 9 months later after much airing, room fresheners, candles, reed diffusers, etc. The logs are western hemlock and had been stained and sealed before the incident. I loved the natural wood smell in the beginning and now almost gag when I walk in. Is there anything I can do short of burning the place down and starting over? Thanking you in advance for any suggestions.
