door knob sets

Hi, I'm doing a reno on a bungalow that will be rented out. I want it to look good but it doesn't have to be perfectly/historic. I had an unforeseen plumbing problem that took most of my funds for other things - I'm sure you can understand that (for those who are undertaking the reno of an old house). Anyway, I'm looking for some good/inexpensive glass knobs. I need about 7 sets. I really can't spend more than 40 each. Anyone out there have some good advise? They will be going on single panel craftsman doors. I also don't have the time to look for vintage sets. I need privacy as well as dummy. Thanks and don't be mad that I can't go "authentic" with this right now.

Do you need an entire knob set with hardware, or just the knobs? House of Antique Hardware has some knobs within your budget. It might be worth looking on eBay - I found some amber knobs that were half the price of what stores were asking (even after shipping from the UK!) Do you have any salvage or ReHouse stores near you? They usually sell such items pretty cheaply. Lastly, if you're not too picky, porcelain doorknobs are a lot cheaper and would still be within the realm of authenticity.

Not sure where you're at but I think a salvage yard would be the best bet. There are often stacks of lock sets for grabs at the salvage places out here.
