Do you belong to ABATE or other motorcycle rights org.?

DH and I both are life members of ABATE of FL. There is nothing going on at the state level now due to summer vacations. I'm not a political activist but, someone has to look after our rights. We are looking for stiffer penalties for hitting a motorcyclist, as well as anti-discrimination. There are still places that refuse to wait on you because you ride a motorcycle.

I hope you all are supporting your local motorcyle rights group. It's alot of fun too!

Lulie, It is a wonderful idea of taping things...my heart goes out to you...it is wonderful news that you will have a grandaughter to be in Christin's room....she knows and will always be with you as you wait for your "blessing". It will soon be a year...and we have not gone thur Mom's things....my sister and I waited for Dad to tell us it was time. We are moving...Dad will go with us...he said it is time to go thur things....Mom would want someone to have her clothes....for the last year she wore gowns and housecoats....my niece knows of a lady that lost everything in a fire..so we will give her some of mothers things. Also the nursing home will take for those that do not have much. It will so hard to go thur Mom's treasures....my sister and I are going to get 6 boxes....for her 6 grandaughters and each will get some of her treasures....Mom loved to wear scarves and pins...they each want one of each....Mom knew that something was happening with her...she had gone thur things and had marked who have given them to her....so we will be giving them back. After Mom died I would go to her closet and I would just want to smell her clothes....that smell is gone. It will be hard but the one thing that will help...is I know Mom would want others to enjoy her treasures. God Bless each of you. Nora

I would not let anyone talk you into leaving that maple where it is. I'm overstating the point to make it so please don't be offended - but it looks ridiculous there. It would be one thing if it were rendered insignificant by other mature trees in the yard, but as it is your major tree, to have it two feet from the foundation is simply absurd. And if your neighbours complain about your insensitivity, ask how much they'd like to contribute to the replacement of your foundation, which will be losing its battle with the tree shortly, or if they're up for going up the ladder to do your quarterly eaves-cleaning (the brain wards are full of people who have fallen off their ladders cleaning their eaves). And offer to buy them a maple just like it (get it identified on the maple forum if you don't know what kind it is) to plant in their own yards. In particular given the work you are planning on the house, you can be entirely excused - the tree will be horridly in the way, and it may even die. A convenient excuse - use it! Do talk to them in advance if you know they feel strongly, but it's your yard, not theirs. Karin L PS, I do like your fake closed window. PPS, I have raised two kids in a house with old siding covered in old peeling paint (and then there is the inside). Neither one is precisely mentally handicapped. I think throwing siding away to protect them from lead is thoroughly misguided. Other reasons to throw it away may be valid, like rotting and the paint won't stay on it (though I quibble with that diagnosis). Not to say you shouldn't do what you have planned, but just to be clear on your reasons. PPPS, if you put the siding for free on craigslist, you might not have to take it to landfill.

Thank you all for the good ideas. And thank you for letting me know that your evenings aren't always filled with earth shattering memorable excitement! I do enjoy my quiet evenings, but they had gotten a little too common - even for an introvert like me. I am going to have to make an effort to look for things to do and join. My town is small and not known for having a lot to do - but I'm sure once I start looking I'll find more. I'm going to have to leave my hermit comfort zone and try some things. I love to dance, but I haven't heard of anything like that. That would be good for me - active and fun. Several people mentioned gardening, which is a good idea too. We have so many deer though - they eat everything. I tried to put in a garden several years ago and ended up having to screen it in. That's a lot of expense to have a raised screened in garden. About this time last year I made plans to cut way back and change my work responsibilities - mostly because my job had morphed into something that I no longer enjoyed everyday. But since then, we have had several sicknesses, employees with family emergencies and a key employee leave. That has thrown me back into the drudgery part of my job I was trying to get out of. I am of course replaceable, but somewhat in charge and working for family, so that's harder than it might be otherwise. Anyway, sometimes I want my evenings to be relaxing, but sometimes I need them to fun. I think I need to change my mindset to say yes to more things and see where that leads me. And looking at my calendar last night, starting next week I am very busy for the next several weeks and then summer will be here. There's always more to do then. Also - last night I put my phone away. I do think I have a slight screen addiction. It is so easy to get caught up on reading something online, following the rabbit trail and several hours later you're still there. Which can be ok, but at the end of the evening, I was not grateful for my relaxing evening, I was mad at myself for wasting time. So - less screens for me hopefully!

This woman has continued to browse. I like stuff. I keep a tight edit on my posessions. I have no fear of leaving any messes behind. Like Annie, my mother was my favorite shopping companion. I can browse after a luncheon or such with whomsever I find myself, but for actual looking for and buying stuff, I need to be on my own. Shopping with my husband is amusing for the people watching part. Shopping with my young adult sons is torture, in both directions.

Now I only belong to AMCA.

ABATE of WI, also belong to MRF , both excellent sources of keeping our motorcycling rights intact for us that ride !
Very happy to see a motorcycle forum on here !!

Just joined an organization, the AMA located here, AMA - American Motorcycle Association.

I don't belong to any of the MC rights groups. I used to, but just didn't agree with some of their positions. I did write to two of the Quebec city officials to let them know that I would be riding right past Quebec without staying there since they don't allow motorcyles in the old city except directly to and from a hotel with which you have reservations. I did just that a couple of days ago. Now I'm about 30 miles outside Truro and heading down to Meteghan in Nova Scotia for a few days before heading home to Virginia.

Actually, I have a slightly funny story. I didn't really pay attention to the ban a few years ago and I was riding around the old city looking for a jewelry store I'd been at years earlier. Couldn't find it, so I pulled up in front of a couple of policeman in a car and walked back to them. They gave me some helpful directions and then told me to continue with my shopping, but when I was done, would I be so kind as to leave the city as I really wasn't allowed there! I guess it's the French attitude!

I am a very proud member and supporter of ABATE of Illinois,as well as a former and soon to be again, proud supporter of the MRF. Please join a motorcycle rights organization if you enjoy riding. As the saying goes," Freedom isn't free. "

Hi, I am one of the millions of unemployed people out there and w/o benefits. I was trying to come up with some clever ideas for bikers jewelry. I am not a biker nor do I know any. I was hoping to sell online and make some money.
I was thinking along the lines of Harley and other motorcyles. How about earrings with a cyle on them or skulls? Any better ideas out there??
