what kind of metal railing is this ?

I have talked to an ironworks shop about stair railings, but what they showed me and said would do looked very unfinished, with brown heat marks and welding joints visible. I am assuming there is some kind of finish that is to be done.
What kind of finish is this ?

| It's hard to tell for sure from the picture but it looks like stainless steel, either tig or mig welded with no finish |
