Is it possible to treat steel in a way to change it's color?

I purchased three 8 foot by 3 foot steel gate doors at an architectural salvage. They are flat metal with decorative cut outs and look to be natural metal not painted over.Once I clean them up of rust or whatever is there a chemical I could spray on them that would change the color preferably to verdigris. Thanks in advance.AJ

Try doing a google search for metal patinas. Here is one site that has a variety of colors. Also the "Metal Artist Forum" (http://www.innovationaliron.com/forum/) often has discussions on this topic.
