Need some help. Hood liner does not fit!

Hi. I am not sure if this is the right forum but here is my quandary. I have my range hood (cast stone) being installed today. When I ordered the hood, the manufacturer told me the ventahood 40 3/8" insert would fit. I gave them a bunch of different sizes and the 40" was what they recommended. Apparently, they were wrong. I actually have only 38". The liner is not returnable and cost $900 so I really need to figure this out.

Here is my question. Can I have the liner cut down an inch on each side and who exactly would do this? I know I could do it but I certainly would not like looking at it when I was done. Sheetmetal and I do not mix well.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Here is a link that might be useful: Ventahood BHPSLD 40 3/8

Never mind-I called a sheetmetal fabricator today and they said no problem!
