Most professional painters insist on using oil base paint on wrougt iron. Is there a reason why exterior wrought iron cannot be painted with a high-gloss acrylic latex paint?

The water in the latex will start the iron to rust. If you use an oil base primer it should work.....Jim

Hi, bad idea, use a good quality oil base primer and paint.
