Tree basket

Here's an easy project, can be done without welder if you drill and use small nuts & bolts

All you need is an old tree stump, some strip metal, not too thick -- so it will bend easy, plus a few leaves etc from a local friendly wrought iron railing/gate fabricator

Bend the horizontal strip round the tree to shape it

I used an old barrel to bend the vertical metal

That black fabric is the stuff they use to keep weed down, but anything will do

Put in some good soil and as many plants as possible
I planted Begonias, the Nonstop variety, with the odd Coleus

RE: Tree basket

What a great idea- and beautiful execution! If you do this on a live tree, bear in mind that the tree will eventually grow over anything that is attached to it, unless you allow for some kind of adjustment. Many sawyers have found an old clothesline pulley the hard way, buried inside a tree trunk!
