self sealing copper

I bought an old copper tray which had tarnished underneath the sealing. I have stripped off the varnish and would like to re-seal it myself - what would be the best product to use to have the best results? I would have it professionally sealed but there is no one in the area that offers this service.

Clear spray lacquer.
Deft is very good.
