 o
Bumper or pad for Gate Slamming?

Posted by akarinz (My Page) on

Hi,

I have a metal gate that has closed/slammed so many times that a piece broke off. My son welded a new piece on. When the gate closes, it hits metal against metal. I need a rubber bumper or something I can put on that prevents the metal to metal touch and stop the noise.

Does anyone have any ideas what i can use, since it is an exterior gate?

Thanks,
Karin

Buy one or more recessed rubber bumpers, which should be available at any decent hardware store. These install with a small sheet metal or machine screw in the center and the head is recessed below the top surface. You will need to drill a small hole in the gate where the problem area is...another job for your son.

Here is a link that might be useful: Recessed bumper
