How do you prep and restore bronze aluminum metal

Our front porch and back patio are screened in. We have a problem with the bronze-colored aluminum framework and the screen doors discoloring. We noticed it after about 2-1/2 or 3 years after installation. We assume it is the sun doing it. We were told it is a big ordeal with multiple steps and special products to paint it. Has anyone done so themselves? What prep and products are required?

By the way, I contacted the installers plus several other companies who install and none of them had any idea.

We have one of those Whitehall aluminum mailboxes from Frontgate Catalog, and were told to wax it with car wax. We do so every spring, and it brightens it up quite nicely. The manufacturer's instructions recommended this. Hope this helps!
