Refurbishing brass plate

Is there a brass plating kit out there that a DIY user can do?
Also is there a paint anywhere that even looks like a brass finish? I have tried several & they just don't look like brass. They look more like gold paint. |

| What are you plating? I have used braising rod to plate steel. |
