metal question about fireplace.. pic Help Plz

I am trying to do a frame, like a picture frame, around my gas firebox.

The manufacturer hasn't been able to help, the custom maker for the local fireplace store doesn't want to take it on and I am at my wits end.

I want brass and or steel that I can color to gold or brass.

I could guild steel with gold leaf but am worried the gold will melt and what about the sizing (glue) that holds the gold leaf on?

I was told that galvanized metal off gasses in the heat.

The metal does get pretty hot around the outside of the firebox.

I found brass metal picture frame but the configuration makes it hard to fit to fire box.
Anybody have any ideas on how where to do this?

The short answer is that you should not modify a manufactured fireplace. It is designed to work safely, and tested by a laboratory to verify that it works properly.

If you make changes in it, you can create safety hazards or cause it to quit working. As a fireplace repairman, I have seen this many times.

It looks like a very attractive fireplace. Don't screw with it.
