anyone using this and does it cause weight gain?

I have been on Activella for 2 months. Before Activella. I tried Triest and natural progesterone. My body did not tolerate them. My main symptoms were insomnia and anxiety. Within 24 hours of taking my first pill, the anxiety was greatly diminished. The insomnia has improved, but my sleeping could be better. I have gained a pound, but that may have nothing to do with the Activella. In the past month, I have not gained anything. I didn't realize how bad I felt, until I started taking the Activella. I now feel more like my old self, and I feel like I can handle my life again.

I'm starting Activella today. I have many symptoms, but I told my GYN if I could control the anxiety, it would go a long way in handling the other symptoms. I've gained a few pounds in the last year, so I'll have to be careful while on this HRT.

Weaning off HRT

How are you doing with weaning off estrogen ? I saw the doc,he said cut the .5 in half and take for a week, then skip to every other day, then every third day. So it's 2 days of half the .5 and so far, no headache. I thought I would be able to deal with hot flashes in the winter months. I'm still taking the remiferin, but I saw where some women take much bigger doses, so I am taking 4 a day. That makes only 80 mg a day. I already have them, so why not. They weren't working when I took two a day, even w the .5 estrogen I was still flashing some. The only thing I don't like is the anxiety. I have tried SamE, and it didn't do a thing for me. I also have St John's Wort. I can't tell the difference there either, and I took it for 2 months. Maybe that wasn't long enough? I don't want to take an SSRI or Xanax. I'll see a neurologist soon and I hope to be back to walking for exercise soon. That seems to help.

Hi, I just found this site by searching for menopause answers. I just turned 50 this year but have been taking birth control pills for quite sometime. am still active with sex and scared of having pregnant at my age. I recently stopped my pills at the end of my period last month but actually experiencing some mild hot flashes for a while. Am i going thru menopause? can somebody help me? I ask my doctor about menopausal symptoms but she told me , if i'm still taking birth control pills i might not know if i'm going thru it or not? that's why i decided to stop taking it.

pebo, If you are not having any troublesome symptoms of menopause, I believe it is better to stay away from hormone replacement. Some bone loss is normal as we age. There are other things you can do to minimize further bone loss beside take hormones. 1. daily weight bearing exercise (walking is the best). 2. avoid carbonated beverages. 3. if you do not get adequate calcium from your diet, take a supplement of Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, and vit D. Most doctors do not give enough information about the type of bone loss or what kind of risk for fracture a person actually has. It may be helpful for you to read up on menopause/HRT/bone loss, so you will have the facts and can ask the questions you need answered before making a decision. Only you can decide if the risks of HRT are worth the benefits for you. (Is the 1 or 2 percent bone gain worth the potential side effects and cancer risk of supplemental hormones?)

Well, the hot flashes are gone and the libido is coming back. Still have the anxiety though.

Activella is hormone replacement therapy.
