If I'm reading this article correctly, they give methyltestosterone to the newly hatched tilapia to cause a sex reversal. The goal is to have mostly male fish. (The reason for this is that fish in a male population grow to a larger and more consistent size than female fish or fish in a mixed population.) I read in another article that the fry are only exposed to the methyltestosterone for the first month (I suppose to make sure they don't go back to the female side). Then they grow for another four or five months without the hormone. They claim that 99% of the hormone is gone 4 days after stopping the hormone; by the time the fish is harvested, it's not detectable in the fish. I suppose that this is not as bad as hormones in beef, which I understand are given for a good portion of the animal's life. (I'm not positive, please correct me if I'm wrong.) And this article shows that methyltestosterone works better than ground up bull testes. (Curious: would using that 'natural' technique allow the tilapia to be marketed as organic?) Thanks for your response - I'm not offended by any questions at all because I realize that they come from a place wanting to help. My DH semi-retired from a job where he had responsibility for over four dozen other people, so I feel that he "misses" being boss and we are reaping the results - I know that a lot of men who retire or are downsized often feel they have to make up for that situation by becoming quite the Overlord at home. It's no excuse. Another thing that could be going on is that my son is growing fast, doing weight-training at school, while my DH is slowing down, arthritic, not able to ski any more, etc.. To answer another point of yours, he does remember the good times but seems to want to choose to believe that my kids changed towards him as they got older - not so. Even though I am their mother, I would admit if this was the truth. He says he nags because he cares, but when someone has been told their nagging is driving people away, why would they not think about that and accept what people say? He has dumped friends because they tried to help. A part of me feels sorry for him because he's going to be a lonely old man, and another part of me remembers how good things can be for us as a couple. He says he is so hurt by my "siding with" my son that he doesn't feel he is welcome to cuddle up any more - we were very tactile and warm, so that is devastating to me. Thanks for "listening" - I'm not even sure there is an answer, but it's good to know that I can write this and it is being read by people who understand.

Jan, I admit I haven't read every single post but most of them. I've read enough to see myself in some of your postings. Have you looked up the symptoms of progesterone overload/overdose? Has your dr checked your progesterone level? You probably have multiple issues going on that need addressed...WHERE TO START? I hope you can find a Dr or naturopath(sp?) that has all the answers. Bless your heart. Hormones rule! Srsly, they rule our bodies! I just have two little pieces of advice. Your anxiety level and depression aren't helping. They're exacerbating your symptoms and your ability to focus and heal and to even find someone to help. Have you considered having your dr prescribe something like Celexa to help with your anxiety and depression? Just till you can find some help and get some relief. My daughter rarely sees a traditional Dr for herself, her husband or the children. They all go to an iridoligist. I have been utterly amazed at what she has done for them and issues she has alleviated. I have to share this even tho it isn't related to your issues. DD was having gallstone, liver and kidney stone symptoms. She already knew her system took a hit with all the paint, stain and polyurethane fumes she inhaled while they were building their house (she did all the paint, stain and poly in their all wood floor 2600sq ft house). A couple of weeks ago, she started a gallbladder and liver cleanse which was to include passing of the gallstones. I kept my mouth shut and waited till she couldn't see my face before rolling my eyes (g) The protocol included apple cider vinegar and EVOO. Other products but that's what I remember. After one week of treatment the instructions were to NOT leave the house for that day as the elimination of gallstones will begin! I will spare you the pictures but she started passing gallstones by the 1/2 cup full and it lasted over half the day. They looked like crumbled, cooked hamburger meat :o She said she's never felt better! She's now working on her kidneys but I don't know if that includes passing of stones. Her iridologist told her these areas were in distress and offered plans/products to help. I'm sure not all iridologist are created equal (as all Drs aren't) but perhaps if you could find a highly reputable one, he/she could help. Good luck!

I've just been prescribed 2mg testosterone pills to help with libido. Does anyone have any experience with this?
