2010, now that's weird sounding
Comments (22)Gean, I can see where the adjustment from coastingrosarian to wearyrosarian would be a tough one. Just when they're all in the ground - boom! Gotta go! But that is also a selling point for your buyers. Maintenance-free :)) already-in-the-ground, blooming roses! Such a deal!! Have your photo album at the ready for every showing until spring. Once spring comes you'll have buyers banging on the door with competing offers. Ya think maybe it might work out that way? Hope so. We're a bit chilly here in the Sunshine state. The high might have gotten to 46!!! with cloud cover. Supposed to be 25 tonight. Keep your fingers crossed that the clouds stick around. If it clears up, what little heat we have will fly away, and the mercury will drop like a rock. They said it would be 25 last night, but it only got to about 30. Maybe they'll be wrong again tonight. I feel for all of you guys buried under snow. You're stronger than I am and hardier, heartier gardeners, too. I hope you have a 'happy medium' of enough precipitation and as little snow as possible the rest of the winter. Is it too much to hope for an early, lasting spring? Sherry...See Moreweird weather...
Comments (19)I'm a native Floridian, too, and to me, I see mostly the same types of changes we've always had. In other words, while the "normal" predictions would be dry winters/springs and rainy summer/fall afternoons, I've also seen years where it was all turned upside down. And I've seen those crazy years throughout my 63 years here. Also, we have NOT had a rainy summer here in the Sanford area at all. We have had the driest June and early July I can remember, with rains only just starting up again about 3 weeks ago. And barring this past week, no all day rains at all. Yesterday, I went to Gainesville, and it rained all day up there, but I came home to find it had only sprinkled here for a short time in the afternoon, and that was all. I guess what I'm saying is that 1) there have always been years when the weather deviated from what's considered "typical" in Florida and 2) it isn't deviating from that typical type of weather in all areas of the state, even this year. This does not mean I don't think weather patterns as a whole are changing, because I do. Just that Florida has always been a land of alternating drought and monsoon, and it still seems that way to me, even though my area has had way more drought and very little monsoon in 2007. Comments (4)Did your weather suddenly turn colder 2-3 weeks ago? If so, the night time temperature in your condo may be falling further that it was before. Most modern automatic thermostats employ an anticipation feature. If you program the thermostat to warm up the house to 70 degrees at 7:00 AM, it will cycle on and off before that time so that by 7:00 AM, the temperature is at 70 degrees. As the weather gets colder, the anticipation feature needs to kick in earlier and earlier so that your desired temperature is reached by the time you've programmed. Many automatic thermostats will allow you to turn off the anticipation feature. Your thermostat owner's manual will tell you how. Once you've turned anticipation feature off, the heat won't come on until the time you've programmed....See MoreI'm not sure which is more weird.
Comments (16)When my daughter was 7, she decided she wanted a birthday sleepover party, to include her best friend "Tom". It was a little strange, 6 girls and one boy. I spoke with his mother, she said it was okay with her. He was just a little boy, after all. I very carefully watched the party whole time. Around 2 am , everybody fell asleep in our family room, either on couches or in sleeping bags. "Tom" fell asleep in a big rocker. He was still on the rocker when I woke everyone for breakfast the next day. Oh, the friendship with Tom didn't last, my daughter now has a different boy friend, Mike....See MoreMkj Bar
