Menopause??
Comments (1)It sound as if you are in Peri-menopause. The symptoms can actually start happening 15 years prior to the actual on-set of menopause. My periods are now very very light and also come irregularly, one of the signs of Peri-menopause. If your pap came back normal I would not be too worried since it doesn't seem as if you are having any pain associated with the irregular periods other than maybe cramps if you get them....See More55 yrs. old and still having periods
Comments (145)I am 55 and have been on birth control pills for the last three years. Doctor says I should get off of them because I shouldn't be taking them at my age. I have enjoyed a period, symptom free, glorious three years. Reading this blog Im terrified to go off of them. I dont want all of this to start again. I may get off of them for a few months and get the blood test to see where I am hormonally. I have had friends who have gone through menopause on the pill - gotten to the other side and were symptom free. My doctor also wants me to have an ablation because of my age. After reading about that theres no way. There is NOTHING WRONG with me. I have a bmi of 19%, I count my macros and do Crossfit four times a week. I dont want to goof myself up. Clueless what to do. Oh and family history wise.....my mother was 40 when I was born and she's 94 now and still kickin! Help!!...See MoreHeavy painful periods, hysterectomy?
Comments (3)Hi nannie! I don't usually look at this site but I just had a hysterectomy in July so I was wondering around looking for information. Before I had my hysterectomy I'd had a very heavy period for about 6 weeks. I was willing to put up with anything to not have surgery. That was a mistake. I lost so much blood that my hemoglobin dropped to 6, I beleve the low end of normal is 11. I was in a great deal of pain and couldn't really do anything. Too worn out, out of breath and in so much pain I couldn't move. I ended up in the hospital and got 2 units of blood and then surgery the next day. My uterus was big too but I've had kids so that helped and they where able to do it vaginally. You know you can't go on the way you are now, beleve me I tried hard to keep going thinking it would some how take care of itself. It didn't and it would of been a whole lot better if I had planned this thing out and schedaled things instead of ending up with an emergency situation. I'm 52 so I'm a bit older then you. They gave me a hormone patch which has helped me. I hadn't had any hot flashes or problems with memopause before my surgery but I had them take everything and I sure have had some problems after. I plan to cut the amount of hormone down in the future and eventually get off of the hormones completely. But not now I need to recover first before I can deal with anything more. Well thats my 2 cents!!...See MoreVery long menstrual period
Comments (15)Wow, its been almost 2 years since I originally posted..( I am this thread creator, my name was Mtn-Grl) .My periods are still the same, one month its just 2-3 days, very light, just spotting, and then after 2 weeks I get the heavy one that lasts 14-20 days. Very unconvienient, I am soaking through very fast. So I got my insurance back, went to the doctor. He sent me to the specialist. Checked for fibroids, turns out, they're too small to operate, the doctor didn't think its necessary to remove them. He found something else. The very thick layer of my inner uterus lining. He said its abnormal and in few weeks I'll be going to the surgical center, so they can get samples of my uterus. It freaked me out. Especially after my doctor said he did not like it. And, although this is the different doctor, he says I am not in peri stage yet. I really don't get it. I have all the symptoms. Plus even more now - my skin itches all the time. ( I moisturize it and take good care of my skin) but it itches every now and then. All over my body, my shoulders, my calves, my back etc. And the panic attacks, they got worse, too. I am at work, talking to the customer, smiling and joking, friendly conversation and suddenly BAM, I feel tingling in my face and this weird feeling in my head like I am disconnected from the world around me. So I rub my forehead in embarrassment ( I have a feeling that people could see my fear ) drink a lot of water ( which I have with me at all times, it helps) and try to convince myself "Its just a stupid panic attack" Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it lasts longer. I am terrified of passing out and losing consciousness , it happened to me before - for no reason at all. SO I am always scared it will happen again. Sometimes I cannot take a deep breath, my stomach hurts and I have to run to the bathroom. And everything seems to be all right, my blood sugar, my blood pressure and heart rate. I would be really happy to know that I am entering perimenopause, then I could blame everything on it but the doctors say that's not it. Well, lets see what they say after they take my uterus samples. For now I just have to live with it. Trying to think positive :)...See Morecatherinet
