 o
saliva test results - what do they mean

Hi - I posted a separate thread "New To Site & Need Help - Many Questions & Confused" so won't repeat everything here. Summary: 48, irregular periods, last "real" one in July, some bleeding in Sept. Worst symptoms: sleep deprivation & night sweats - been going on for 3+ months & depression/crying jags as of late. Downsized & tough job market so compounded by worrying about how long savings will last. Feel like I'm in a vicious cycle. Gyno gave me FemHRT this week to try but haven't taken them yet. I am conflicted about going on HRT.

I neglected to mention in my other post that I went to an alternative medical facility back in August. I did saliva testing & results are posted later in this message. After spending a lot of $ that was not reimbursed by insurance, not actually seeing an MD & their heavy push on mercury poisoning, having fillings removed & signing up for their IV detox program, I never went back. I wanted to focus on perimenopause & to me they were focused on getting me to commit a lot of time & $ to something I didn't feel was an issue for me.

But here are my salvia test results & maybe there is someone out there who can tell me if I do need HRT or if I can do natural creams or if I just need completely different supplements altogether as it appears that it's my DHEA level that is below normal. Not sure what DHEA is. I don't currently take any supplements of any kind. Only thing I take every day is Lipitor.

SALIVARY ESTRADIOL - 2.8
SALIVARY ESTRIOL - 1.8
SALIVARY PROGESTERONE: 103.4
TESTOSTERONE (AM): 32.6
SALIVARY DHEA-S: 1.0

CORTISOL OUTPUT:
SUMMARY: 15.4
AM: 6.9
NOON: 4.2
AFT: 3.2
NIGHT: 1.1

Thanks

RE: saliva test results - what do they mean

See if you can get the lab ranges to compare your results to. I did the progesterone test over a period of time and found that it dropped off too soon in my cycle. If they only tested you for one day, it may not tell you a lot, jmho.
Don't give up on alternative medicine; there are some good treatments available. My favorite is homeopathy.
Good luck!

Here is a link that might be useful: Homeopathy
