Well, this is annoying

Was diagnosed as being in menopause last year. Had regular cycles until this past May; then 3 months went by without a period; then they came back; I now have had my second period in two weeks. Is this what menopause is about, or is it something I have to worry about?

You should always keep your doctor informed about any changes you are experiencing but in my opinion and experience with this, yes this is unfortunately another one of the lovelies LOL we can look forward to during menopause.
my own experience with sparatic periods has spanned almost three years now and my doctor told me before and again just last week that until I have gone at least a whole year without one then it may still continue. I'm up to 97 days without one now but had two regular periods in a row just before that. I called my doctor. She wants me to go for a pelvic and a trans-vaginal sonogram this week, then come in and see her. She will squeeze me in (otherwise I'd have to wait until April for an appointment).

The pyrethrin chrysanthemums grow on the higher slopes in the mountains of Kenya, beautiful fields of white flowers. The plants are processed for the pesticide, which breaks down within a matter of hours when exposed to sunlight or oxygen. The plant residue, after extracting the majority of the pyrethrin, is then used to make mosquito coils that people burn in their houses to ward off mosquitos. It is the common ingredient in insecticidal soap. This soap is useful on aphids, particularly on tiny, delicate seedlings. They are harmful to fish, but are far less toxic to mammals and birds than many synthetic insecticides. They are non-persistent, being biodegradable, and also break down easily on exposure to light or oxygen. They are considered to be amongst the safest insecticides for use around food. I carefully planned all my beds--drew them out on paper, dug the sod, planted things either purchased or grown from seed via winter sowing. I bought 'designer hostas' at a local hosta nursery and planted them as directed according to height/width and was carefull to give each the space it needed. This year two have so far grown to twice the size I was told and yet another one has grown considerably larger than the amount of real estate I allotted it. Am I disappointed? Not so much. Am I surprised? You betcha. Wasn't expecting these 'mood swings' with plants that have performed reliably in years past. Am I surprised they're performing in a manner I didn't expect? Why would I be? Like humans and other living creatures, plants are alive and respond differently based on growing conditions that aren't normally exactly the same two years running. Do I expect my carefully planned, planted & tended beds to look the same year after year? Well, yeah, I guess I'd like that but am coming to realize it's just not realistic to expect that's gonna happen.

It is always fun to read how many different ways there are to live our lives and tend to business. As I read through the thread, I immediately note the points that ring my chimes! My side-by-side Kenmore w/ ice maker and water dispenser in the door is 19 years old. Not only have I never had a problem w/ it, I have NEVER moved it - which means, of course, that the dust must be pressed into diamonds by now. For me and my then DH, the irony of the ice maker was that he had recently sobered up - and we had much less call for ice as the result. However, I love having it. Yes - if you don't use the ice - it DOES taste funny - picks up freezer odors - so I sometimes have to dump the bucket and let the new ones accumulate. I hope my posting this isn't going to give my unit "ideas". In the 19 years since moving into the house w/ all new appliances, I have replaced only the washer/dryer (last year) and the hot water tank - which was really done just because "it was time". You don't want one of those rusting through to let you know you were too late!

Five was way way too many. This was because two cats were dumped off at me when I already had three. The owners were friends who couldn't move into their new housing with their cats (they were foreclosed out of their house and had to move to an apartment that would work for their autistic daughter - but alas allowed no pets). I wanted to move the cats to a no-kill shelter, but there was a three plus month waiting list. So, I kept them. It was way too many because the first three and the second two did not REMOTELY get along. Ever. I tried everything. Okay, Serenity (my oldest cat at nearly 17.5 years) would, and still does, get along with everyone -- but the other four??? Naw. I had to keep some in the basement, some upstairs. We all hated this. At the moment, I have two cats. Three would be fine at a maximum, but they all have to at least tolerate each other!!!!

My sonograms were normal. She told me to keep track of my cycles for the next four months. If I'm still getting periods after four months, she wants to do a biopsy. I just got one today (again, a week and a half after the last one finished). Yuck.

Cheerful1, I'm glad the sonograms turned out okay.

I have a question and didn't want to start a new thread since it's on the same subject. I am 55 and was regular until 3 months ago when I had my last period. Am I supposed to call my doctor? I saw her last March for my regular gyn physical. Can I wait to see her in March and does it make a difference whether or not I get a period before then?
