Can Peri-Menopause Reverse?
Comments (3)Boy, can I relate to this post. I could of wrote this myself. I had an FSH of 29 two years ago, along with horrible symptoms of irregular heartbeats , extreme anxiety, Insomnia...on and on. The Doc said early Menopause, I had it retested last month, it was 4 !!!!! I had the same reaction as you... I am expecting the worst, as some of my symptoms have lessened , now I am thinking it will all start over full force. I had waited to re-test the FSH , and thought that maybe I was Post , as I have felt somewhat better with some of the symptoms... I had my Uterus removed 15 years ago, so no periods to help establish where I am in all this. I am confused as to what this all means just like you, You are the first one I have found to have the same issue, sorry for you, but a relief for me to have someone to talk to !! I am wondering if it has something to do with he Thyroid.. as I am Hypothyroid, with Hashimotos Disease. I was curious before, but now I see you have Thyroid issues also, wondering if there is a connection... the Thyroid is part of the Endocrine system like the Ovaries ... Anyways, I feel like I am rambling.. just know that you are not alone, and I hope you fee better knowing that someone else is dealing with the same craziness, I know I sure do. Peace, Rebecca...See MoreExcessive Sweating Might Be Thyroid
Comments (0)Several years ago, during a check-up, my GP thought my thyroid looked swollen. He ordered a sonogram of my neck but it was normal. Now, years later, after my successful kidney transplant, I've been having both night and day sweats. My face drips, I need to change my shirt several times a day. My kidney specialist felt my neck and found a very small nodule (one centimeter). He told me to get another scan and see an Endocrinologist. Just letting everyone know heavy sweating is not always from menopause. My last period was in 2007 and my gynecologist says everything down there is normal....See MoreDee - about soy and the thyroid
Comments (9)Alexis, if you Google thyroid soy you'll probably find out more than you want to know, some from reliable sources, some not. I was just seeing what Dr. Andrew Weil has to say on the subject. I have more confidence in him than I do Dr. Mercola. Weil says in part: I'm aware of Internet paranoia on the subject of soy and the contention that only fermented soy is safe to consume. That is simply not true. Some of the best forms of soy - edamame, tofu and soy nuts - are unfermented and are much more likely to help you than hurt you. He later addresses the thyroid issue on the same page of his website: click here. I think the bottom line is that soy can possibly interfere with thyroid function if you have an underlying thyroid condition, and can possibly have an adverse impact on supplemental thyroid hormones. As I noted above, it didn't seem to have affected my husband's thyroid at all. And since it's so obvious to me that cabbage affects my thyroid, and yet I notice no change from eating soy foods, I would say soy doesn't bother me. To see if it bothers you, try to take note of the various thyroid indicators, plus how you're feeling. Hate to say it, but I react badly to quite a few other foods, so my diet has been rather limited for some years. What Patti says about reading labels brings up another point: Some experts stress that natural soy is safe, but the same is not true for genetically modified soy. Most good quality tofu is made from natural, often organic, soybeans. That's certainly what we used in our business. But processed foods manufactured by the big food guns (a.k.a. "Big Soy") often contain genetically engineered soy. Not good. Zeetera, there's soymilk and there's soymilk. Do you know what brand your parents are drinking? I know of at least one, 8th Continent, that contains relatively large amounts of sugar. Some other brands, including Silk, come in various flavors and types. I use Silk Brain & Bone Health (unflavored) and Organic Unsweetened (also unflavored). But Silk also sells Vanilla, Very Vanilla, Chocolate, etc....See MoreOrganic_Donna - How's the Armour working?
Comments (20)vickij, Check out the forum that I linked in one of my above posts. Also check out Mary Shomon's site and Stop The Thyroid Maddness site. There is so much info on Armour. bigbaby, I commend you for trying to live a more healthy lifestyle. There is a lot of info to help you learn about a natural life. I like Dr. Andrew Weil's books. As far as eating, try to eat foods in their natural state, i.e. from the ground, the sky, the water, not a box, bag or can. Eat a lot of fish, brown rice, fruit, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, small amounts of antibiotic free meats, whole wheat pasta, (unless you are going gluten free), organic dark chocolate, 60% or higher Cocoa. STAY AWAY from sugar, too much dairy, chips and all junk foods, cookies, cakes etc., meats injected with growth hormones, soft drinks, juices, alchohol, anything out of a box, bag, (except frozen veggies), or can. You get the picture. Try and walk daily and live a stress free lifestyle. Listen to your body!!! If something doesn't feel right find out why. Western medicine loves to throw pills at any symptom. Sometimes pills are a necessary evil. Most times a lifestyle change would benefit more. Do you know what the number one risk factor for heart disease and cancer is? Constipation. That's why diet is so important. You only have this one body. Put the best foods you can afford in it. Organic is best if you can pay the prices. Nourish your body with fresh healthy foods and it will give you many years of vitality. Try and keep stress levels low and get a good nights sleep. Donna...See Moredskoeltzowx_aol_com
