Chronic health problems from last year's vegetable garden
Comments (59)Many of our medical people have not yet accepted that exposure to many of the poisons sprayed on land that is "conventionally" farmed can cause chronic health problems even though they recognize they can cause acute health problems. Exposure to more then one could cause a symbiotic relationship that is not healthy. That some people are more susceptible to adverse reactions to these poisons is also a known and if that person is exposed to more than one of these potential allergins can cause even larger problems. Unfortunately the only way to find put if a person is suscetible to any substance is to expose them to that substance. While an allergist can, and will, test someone for these types of allergies it will only be done if there is good reason to suspect there is a need. So alaria121 if you are still able to please update us on what, if anything has been found....See MoreDefinitely leaving Florida
Comments (38)I've lived in most of the main parts of America and think that the economics of Florida are not great, unless you are wealthy. There is great deal of unfairness in the property taxes - go to the Florida state web site and the property assment. page and i saw a huge disparage in my community. I live in a gated community where all the houses look alike. The values of the houses are the same (these are very cookie cutter - unfortunately : )... but the property taxes are different; Even if they are purchased in the same year... very strange... and it's not the homestead exemptn either. (That's another problem - many snowbirds live in my community, like my neighbor who is only here 4 weeks/year and yet she's claimed this as a primary residence...) This is typical of Florida, esp. South Fla - there are a lot of exemptions being offered - and it's very unfair... Plus, Florida's pay is dismal - opportunities are low - 10 years ago, there were tons and tons of opportunity, and now, I've noticed more and more people settling for low-paying jobs just so they can continue working. Education is not valued here as much as in other parts of the country and so on........See MoreThe fight against NOISE.
Comments (5)you need to research your state's statues for how to break a lease due to violation of the "quiet enjoyment" concept. By not standing up for you, your landlord is violating the lease, and you have the right to move without penalty. You just have to set it up to be legally defensible. You'd have had better luck calling the cops at 3:45 am for the surround sound--that's hard to argue with; stomping is a little more subjective and harder to detect from outside the house. Moving won't be as rewarding as "making the other folks behave," but it'll get your family some normalcy sooner. And thanks for the reminder to all of us, never to end up w/ a boss and a landlord who are the same person. A dispute in one of those arenas can really poison the other, and they're both too important to jeopardize like that. I wish you well, and I hope you can get out of there fast....See MoreMy Great Grandma Annie - Hard Time Getting Through It
Comments (1)PS. Another thing that really gets to me is that I have a child on the way. My first one, though it would have been my great-grandma's FIFTH great-great-grandchild. Family was more important and specail to her than anything else in the world. She was SO HAPPY when I told her that we were expecting. She was just thrilled. We found out ourselves a couple of weeks after she had broken her hip. However my great-grandma already knew! She tried to talk one of my aunts into believing that my wife was pregnant, and after my aunt kept telling her that wasn't the case, great-grandma said "we'll see" and had a very smug look on her face. She knew before we knew! Oh how I wish that Great Grandma Annie could have lived long enough to hold my baby in her arms at least once. It's not due til July, but I thought she might be able to hang in there. I really did. I thought she'd be up and walking again too after her hip healed. Even if only for a while. I thought she had months left, not just weeks. And the fact that she was taken from us right at the beginning of the holiday season also just kills me on the inside. We were so close to having just one more with her. So close. Why were we robbed of it? I know she'll be and is with us all in spirit, but I can't hug a spirit. The loss of the physical touch is the most painful of all. Oh what I'd give to see her smile, hear her laugh, hear her voice, and give her a great big hug just one more time........See Morejannie
