I consider myself to be highly informed regarding HRT.With an open mind and at the suggestion of a friend, I tried FemHRT.After three months on it I think the name should be changed to FemHURT!!The breast pain was severe and I had no noticable reduction in hot flashes.I switched to and am currently taking Prempro .625/2.5.This contains conjugated estrogen, the closest thing on the market to estrogen produced by our own bodies (which would make sense since its from another mammal). I have no breast pain and the hot flashes have disapeared!!For those of you out there contemplating HRT I would say what are you waiting for?...but from someone thats tried it avoid the man made synthetic estrogen/progestin combos especially FemHURT.

Rosanne, thanks for sharing your experience. Everyone has their individual reaction to the various forms of hormones. For me, Premarin/Provera was toxic. I'm doing well with bioidentical hormones, Estriol and Progesterone. Each woman has to experiment until she finds what is best for herself, even if none is what is best for herself.

I have been on FemHRT for almost one year now and I take it every other day. I love it and have had no symptoms at all. In the beginning first few weeks, my breasts were so sore and hurt, but then that went away and I am doing fine. I began the every other day thing six months ago. I had a terrible terrible time on the HRTs including Premarin, and this is the only one so far that is good to me. Take care Lou

pleblanc, I know you posted this a while ago but I have just read it and wondered if you got the itching and skin dryness sorted. I have had exactly the same symptoms as you only on the soles of my feet which makes even standing up some days excrutiating. I have been near to tears on a couple of occassions recently. Mine started two years ago out of the blue and I thought it might be menopause related as I had some severe hot flashes start at the same time. My doctor doesn't think so and has been prescribing creams for Pompholyx excema. I am finally seeing a dermatologist next month so we shall see what happens. I also for a few months have had the vaginal and rectal itching. I thought it was thrush but I have no other symptoms. I have been using canesten cream which gives me relief. I find it worse during the night which could be related to feeling hot. Finally, I also get the joint pain deep in my right hip if I lie on it too long and it also wakes me during the night. I would say all my menopause symptoms started about 8 years ago but in the last 2 years it has been constant and I have been trying everything I possibly can to help myself. I am of the belief that if these problems happened to men there would be specialists in every major city in every part of the world. Unfortunately because it is the other half of the population, Drs with a special interest are few and far between. P.S I tried HRT but had a horrendous migraine which was really scary-thought I was having a stroke-and my doc took me off them immediately. My BP and cholesterol were also sky high. I can't believe I had to Google what I did to get here. I'm assuming I am post menopausal. I haven't had a period for almost 10 years but when I was tested is was not menopause. Btw I am 51. I can't remember what it was but a few doses of estrogen started it again but only for couple months I repeated that regimine twice before just not doing it. I liked not having a period. Fast forward 10 years I am now there however I have not had sex of any kind for 18 years. Last year I finally went into hiding from an abusive husband to whom I refused sex to for the beatings. I left him several times during my marriage but the criminal justice system let me down. He has never spent a day in jail for his crimes against me. I can't tell you what it would feel like to sit in a courtroom and hear the judge order him to anger management classes again. Which cost $50 a week so he would be waiting outside the courtroom when I would leave he would walk up and put his arm around me and tell me how bad I was gonna hurt for costing him that money. I am free now and I am suffering the worst case of horniness imaginable. I can't get anything to work and I am in tears. I don't want a man with what I have been through I just want it to stop. I am doing things in my sleep. I have to keep my nails cut off. I was in the women's shelter for abused women before getting on my feet but I can't afford doctors anymore. I left with nothing to escape it including health insurance and I walk with a limp and my face is scarred with a cheap snap on smile for the broken teeth so this is something I cannot understand and I do think men know. I assure I don't flirt or dress provactively but I am hit on all the time. My only urge is to cut their penis off and take it with me. I sure don't want the rest of them. I'm not functioning well and I have had more serious medical issues that I did get to see a doctor for those things and yes I mentioned it. For my other medical issuers the doctor said no hormones that I should give into it that it was the healthiest thing to do. What kind of crap is that? He knew what happened to me Because he stitched me up enough. He wrote a letter to the court but nothing put my husband in jail. He gave my mother a heart attack on Christmas day. He terrorized my family. So I just can't let a man touch me so I am begging to know what there is that I can do. I'm sure it would be a blessing if I had had a good man . it's too late for that now

I DID have the same tightening pressure in the head when I wake up bit it went away after I cut out my overindulgence in tea and coffee. I still DO wake up around 3 am. sometimes, I am wide-awake, and I AM ON HRT! I have noticed if I keep up with a high level of calcium -- my GYN said 1500 mg of calcium AND 800 IU of Vitamin D is also necessary. Don't forget to get the type of calcium that has magnesium, else you are really not absorbing the calcium into your system! So everything working in concert correctly has helped me get a solid night's rest but if I forget my vitamins, then the HRT has no effect... The other thing I have noticed is if I wake up hungry at the magic hour of 3 a.m... I sometimes have not eaten enough for supper (ergo the cure of those who take tryptophan)... I often skip dinner and graze on smaller items... so had to cut that out... But I am going to try that natural progesterone cream... anyway, Doc says he will only keep me on HRT for a very short period of time, wants me only to take it every other day, but I need to work for a living and I need my sleep. But like I said, it is not working that great anyway... You can try the HRT for a short term just to see it's effect.. I remember taking two pills the first night and it knocked me out and proved that it was a key piece of the puzzle. I went to a sleep seminar not too long ago when it first started happening to me at age 53, and when the speaker asked for a raise of hands for a) who is under stress then b) who can't fall asleep and c) who is menopausal, man, the hands that went up was astounding.. I then realized this is biological and definitely related to the whole hormonal complex..... of course, it pays to stay as calm as possible as pointed out.. perhaps your headache is related to a bit of panic? At the very least if it continues, ask for a blood pressure check... be well

FSH levels are so inaccurate that many women are found to be post menopausal years before their periods end, based on the results of the test, and many others are found to be reproductive years after their last periods based on the results of the same tests.

I've been on FemHRT since Feb, 2001 everyday and am getting along fine. My breasts have always been tender, so no big deal and I still have hot flashes, no big deal, but the big deal are my nerves are better, my sex drive is coming back slowly, and I don't have periods anymore
(age 48) and I like it. I still have brain fog but I think that is due to other medication I'm on.
As someone said, different things work for different persons.
I think this forum is wonderful.
I don't post or read as often as I should because I haven't had any problems to speak of.

I started Fenhrt..three weeks ago ...after two weeks I started to bleed...After not having a period for 3 years (im52) It has now been 11 days of constant bleeding an the worst cramps since my last child 2o yrs ago....My Dr wants me to go another mnth on theses ..Im scared and dont know what to do .....My Mother Died if female problems ...I was on premarin and had no problems at all ..Not even sure why i was switched ....Dr. said it was time is all ..and that it would cause mild spotting ...Well this isnt mild spotting ........Hot flashes are back and my skin is drying out from my body temp..Hot flashes i presume .....

Did you call doctor since you went on FemHRT ? If not, call. You may need to be one something else.
FemHRT has done well for me. NO periods since Feb 2001
when I began it but every one responds to each HRT differently.

I just started taking femhrt today. I am a 52 year old diabetic with high blood pressure. I have had creepy, crawly, itchy skin for over a year and my periods have slowed down. I did not want to go on HRT, but the past few weeks have been horrendous due to frequent night sweats and hot flashes. My sleep has been interrupted so often, and I find it difficult to get back to sleep. I don't want to live like this the rest of my life, so I called my gyn. He prescribed femhrt, however, I am concerned about it and my diabetes/high blood pressure. Is there anyone else out there with this combination of condifions on HRT? I would love to hear about your experiences. Thanks!

You should be sure your Doctor is aware of all the medicines you're taking, including any and all over the counter meds. Some meds can't be mixed, as some even cause high blood pressure. I am on premarin and diovan for high blood pressure, not a problem with these two for me, but your doctor must be aware of ALL meds you're taking. Some combinations can be deadly.

I was reading over all of the posts, and want to thank everyone for sharing. I am taking FemHRT, and find that it seems to be working for me. Yes, breast tenderness, but that has always been the case for me. I am finishing up my 3rd month on this HRT, and have started to have some spotting, but after reading the forum and the FemHRT web site, I think this is common and should cease in the next few months. Again, I am ok with this!! I will say that my sex drive is slowly returning, I have had no hot flashes, and I am feeling like "me" again.
