Hello:
New to this forum. I am 49, and was on birth control for 30 years. Quit as of late August to determine if I am in menopause.
Had my last period on Sept 3. Was due for next cycle Oct 1, but nothing yet.
By mid-September, I was overcome with several symptoms: hot flashes, night sweats, severe joint pain, heart palpitations... To name a few. For the past several years, I have struggled with low libido, lack of motivation, and fatigue.
I had hormone saliva testing done Oct 2. The results were low in estradiol, testosterone and DHEA. Progesterone was normal middle range (assuming the post menopausal range of 12-100; I was 46.)
I was thinking of supplementing with DHEA transdermal cream, as my understanding is it can raise all the hormones I am low in.
My questions are:
1. Has anyone supplemented with DHEA (either cream or pill)? What was your experience?
2. Did you supplement with progesterone at all to balance estrogen?
3. Any other advice? I realize you can't give me medical advice per se, but I would appreciate any feedback from those who have experience supplementing DHEA for low hormone results.
Thanks, ladies!
