agatha: Did you do an ultrasound too? My doctor said the lining of my uterus is 11mm, so I need to have a D&C or I am at risk of uterine cancer. I asked her to put me on progesterone, so she had me take 400mg Prometrium for three days, and she said I'd have a period in a week. I waited a week, and nothing. But on day 8, I got some slight pinkish discharge that last 2 days, and then nothing. I did get a migraine, which I have not had since my periods ended. I really don't understand why I didn't get a period. Did the endometrial biopsy hurt, agatha? I am so scared of having it done. My doctor does not use ANY anesthesia. When I asked her for a cervical block, she was very annoyed, and said I'd have to sign a release, and could have a large number of side effects including dizziness, ringing in my ears, etc. She finally said I could take some Advil 45 minutes before, but that I'd have to come back for it. She wanted to do it right then and there with no anesthesia whatsoever! I've heard it hurts worse than natural childbirth (I had that, so I know what that's like). I'll try to find another doctor, but may have to wait for months. My doctor is scaring me a lot. Did you have thickened lining of your uterus too? If so, what did your doctor say about that? Will it disappear on its own, or do you have to get more scans to keep an eye on it?

I went through this for a long time....major PMS symptoms from hell for weeks and weeks at a time; until I was practically begging for my period. For years I think I spent more time PMS than not. As I got further along in perimenopause, I had meno symptoms at the same time as all the PMS! So I was bloated, very sore boobs, cramps, sweating, hot flashes, pimples, tired, moody, couldn't sleep....haha! I'm SO glad that's just about over, though I had about 8 years of this cr*p. A low-estrogen pill might help with regulating your period...none of the herbal remedies have been proven to help with much other than hot flashes (I tried them all, for years...I didn't notice any difference except I spent the money on them) but it wouldn't hurt to try.

i know that exact feeling. I had "phantom" periods for 6 months after giving up the pill back in April. I had every symptom to say that my period was well on its way, cramps ,bloating, the whole she-bang, but it would just never come. 6 months later i finally got one. Just part of the FUN that comes with Perimenopause! my GYNO never once mentioned that this was a possiblity. as a matter of fact he assured me my periods would be heavy and possibly painful after giving up the pill. not that at 48 i would get thrown full into the peri situation. geez thanks for the warning! not!

Wow - it's terrible how hard it is for some people to find a good vet! We left a bad vet - and I LOVE the vet we use now. I am completely comfortable leaving my dogs with them alone, for anything. My beagle is just for whatever reason, in love with going to the vet. She gets SO excited - so that right there tells me they treat her very well. They call a few times a day if they've had surgery, to update. In surgery, out of surgery, awake, eating, etc. I get all the updates. When we took big guy in, he was shaking like a leaf, and put the breaks on. He'd never been to this vet yet since the switch - and he was not happy. But my SO HAD to leave him alone. We went to pick him up together and he was sucking up to all the vets and techs, and happy and wagging - didn't even seem to notice we'd come to get him. And all the girls went on and on about how good he was and how much time they spent petting him, and how much they loved him. I wish everyone could have such good vets - it's really made a difference in the stress levels when they have to go to the vet. And I trust them to treat and care for my dogs as good as we do - and in turn that builds my confidence in their diagnosis. I hope your parents are able to work things out with this vet - or find a vet who's even just a bit better. I couldn't handle a vet not calling me, or looking at my dog for so long.
