irregular periods

Okay... since I have horrible PMS, and like most women, feel that once you've actually started Perimenopause, you just want it done. Well...I just had my first irregular period last night. I mean, it's a full on period, and I just had a full on period on the 17th of September. I was WONDERING why I had a craving for chocolate! :D

Is this a sign that the end is near??? Please please please let it be so! :D

Since July, my full periods have been getting closer and closer. Three weeks apart,then two, now I've had three within 5 weeks. And I had no bleeding at all from January to April. My doc says it's "normal" for perimenopause. I'm sick of wearing napkins.

:D I just went out and bought some napkins... no unpleasant surprises in nice clothes.... almost as bad as when I was a teenager!

How old is your cousin? Irreular periods are not uncommon with peri-menopause, but without knowing her age to rule that out... Gotta be honest, if I had a "white" period, I'd have been at the doctor in a New York minute, not three months later. I'd call the doctor about the new pain, just to double check the meds could upset her stomach if she's taking on an empty stomach, but the other pain should possible be checked out. Vickey-MN

To any of you suffering from heavy bleeding, I long ago figured out the culprits and cures - yes, cures. First - here's my YES list, then later, see what to avoid. My YES list: Loads of good-quality Bing cherries, and/or Juice of black cherry concentrate. NOT from toxic plastic containers, rather glass. And the more Viscous it is, the better (i.e. more sticky, slow-to-flow. Also: lots of probiotic yogurt such as Vanilla or Peach Stonyfield. Or Raspberry Lifeway-Kefir. Also: Lysine/smooth type of foods, such as Eggs, yams, yellow oils, veggies, Unsalted soda crackers, sweet/sticky fruits/melons. Also: see my tips on this "flu" site, because alot of those tips may resonate with you and help toward the bleeding issues as well. https://lysine4flu.wordpress.com/ Also: Gabapentin might help (if you can get a doctor to prescribe it). It helps to relax my nerves toward computer(EMF) use, and relieves headaches, so I suspect it can relieve bleeding. My NO list: Heavy exposure to bright lights & EMFs & WIFI & so forth. Hi sodium, citric-acid, citrus, sodium-nitrite, sodium-citrate. Some of these can be hidden inside foods at health stores as well. Spices, raw onion, raw garlic. Some of these can be hidden inside health foods. Stress/chemicals. See my common-sense examples in my above wordpress blog, re: "Arginine vs. lesser arginine". Hi landygirl, Did you have a transvaginal ultrasound? I'm not familiar with any other kind. The transvaginal shows if your uterine lining is getting too thick. I would imagine that your's is. What happens in perimenopause is that usually we have an imbalance of our homrones, and our uterine lining builds up but doesn't shed properly....which leads to constant spotting. You definitely need a transvaginal ultrasound to determine your thickness. (They are very easy to have done. I'm having one on Wednesday). After they determine if its too thick or not, they may give you some progresterone to take, which will help shed it, or suggest a D&C to clean it out. Sometimes during perimenopause, the cells in our uterus get a little funky and they don't take orders from above very well, and some of them bleed all the time, and some hold on too long, etc. Once you get them scraped out, they seem to grow back in the proper way. Even if you didn't have the transvaginal ultrasound, I would think anything really bad would have shown up on any kind of ultrasound. I think this is just a matter of your hormones getting a bit off. Please try not to worry. I think that at least half the world of women in their 40's and 50's go through this same thing! (I had the same thing happen when I was about 48).

Have had this "chin hair thing" for a few years. It keeps getting worse. (runs in the family, one cousin actually had a beard-had laser hair removal)(her g-mother used to pluck and pluck, when she went to a nursing home no one plucked and she looked terrible, but did not know it!) Went to an electrologist for a month and now the few I get are manageable. I think shaving them was the worst thing I could have done. Now I pluck the strays.

Since May, I had 3 months in a row without a period, then 2 months with periods 4 weeks apart, now I got one 2 weeks after the last one. According to the bloodwork I got last year, I'm in menopause. Doesn't make sense to me.

Hello, everyone, I'm new here and came looking for this very reason! I was told I am perimenopausal about a year ago (at age 45), but nothing was really bothering me other than my periods getting lighter. I have had this month, for the first time, two periods, two weeks apart. So...once this happens, will it continue to happen or is it an every once in a while thing? Puleeze say it's only sometimes!

I just had a half a day period and none the month before.The cramps were like being in labor all over again.Hopefully it won't be a red christmas with lots of pain.

I'm so tired of being all over the map. I just got my period yesterday, 4 weeks after the last one, which was just spotting. The cramps were so bad I wanted to die. Still extremely uncomfortable. My doctor told me in November to wait 4 months; if I was still bleeding after that, I should come in for a biopsy.
