Burning legs

Ok, all you girls out there. I'm 58, been post men. for several years., had full hysterectomy 2 yrs. ago, thyroid is ok, but my LEGS BURN, and I don't want them touching each other at night, can't lie still, etc. Anyone else have this, what is it, and what helps. I'd be forever grateful for some remedy, other than xanax, which can't be obtained too readily, too often. thanks, susan

Do you have any other medical problems? Sounds like you might have something like "Restless Leg Syndrome". I have fibromyalgia, and lots of us have funky neuro symptoms like that. My legs have been buzzing (tingling) for about 6 years now. You also might have a peripheral neuropathy. Sometimes people get this with a B12 deficiency. I take sublingual B12 tablets from a good health store. It's 1000mcg of methylcobalamin. It's just about as good as an injection. You could try it for a month or 2, and see if you got some relief. Also, do an internet search on "burning legs" or "peripheral neuropathy" and maybe you can find some other possibilities to help you.
I occasionally have RSL (restless leg syndrome) and it's no fun. I hope you can find some relief soon.

Hi, My legs burn quite a lot too. I thought it was perhaps a side effect from using HRT patches. I had a full hysterectomy including both ovaries about 10 years ago. Other than than I'm quite active and healthy but if anyone does know the cause I'd be pleased to hear about it.

Following up on this, I spent some time scrutinizing my mower for a fuel/oil leak and the most I found was some grass/dust residue stuck to the oil dipstick pipe. Nothing close to a leak or enough to explain the regular dead grass spots. Couple observations lead me to believe this is not a fuel/oil leak: 1. The burn spots grow back in 1-2 weeks which means it's very unlikely a fuel/oil leak since grass will completely die and not grow in soil contaminated with petroleum. 2. The burn spots are about 1 ft in diameter which would need a "spray" of fuel rather than a drip. So unless fuel is spraying in a fine & light mist that only touches the grass leaves and doesn't get into the ground, I'm starting to 2nd guess the cause of my dead grass spots and maybe I'm suffering from the same exhaust heat problem. Placing my hand under the exhaust while the ZTR is running even at idle it's quite warm at the grass level. I can only imagine the temperature at full throttle. Unfortunately I still haven't found the definitive cause. I'm considering video recording the full mowing using something like a GoPro so I can then look at the footage to find what was going on near the burn spots to give me some lead(s). I mentioned this problem to the retailer & service center where I purchased the mower and it seemed new to them. They sell other pro- and commercial brands like Skag and have been around for decades, so it might be just that they don't have enough residential homeowners with Toro ZTRs to get a lot of reports. I also use one of those "gripper" tools to pickup sticks but usually I'm only stopped for couple seconds using it. I'm going to look into options for a heat shield.

You might have allodynia, which I was diagnosed with a few months ago. The back of my leg leg from the mid thigh to the left buttocks burns all the time, as if I have a bad sunburn. It sometimes can begin as an after effect following some kind of trauma to the body. I had been trying to prune a hanging branch from a tree and was exerting a lot of force with the clippers to cut the branch, with my arms fully extended above my head. Shortly afterward, my legs began to feel really heavy and I could hardly pick up my feet. I went to the hospital because the really heavy legs feeling made me wonder if I was having a minor stroke. They asked me exactly what I had been doing, and I was told that the leg heaviness was a symptom of injury of some muscle strain within my lower back, although my back didn't have any symptoms at all. The next day, the back of both my legs began to burn, from my buttocks all the way down to my heels. My right leg spontaneously returned to normal within a day or so. The back of my left leg started returning to normal from the heel upwards, but when it reached my mid thigh, it stopped. Ever since then (8 months ago) I still have a stinging/burning sensation on the back of my left leg from mid thigh to the left buttocks. My doctor said that since it still hasn't gone away in 8 months, I might have it for life. The burning sensation isn't painful enough to affect my lifestyle, but it is very uncomfortable and I've just had to learn to try to ignore it. I hope it that's what you have, that if completley clears up for you.

Do what I did, measure from the back of YOUR knees to the back of your backside. We had all kinds of problems with them making mistakes on the seats in our spa. They put the low side on the high side and vice versa. They came to change that, but then the seating was to large (we have a sloped back, the higher you go the wider it is). They had to came back and ship it our with jack hammer thing. They fixed it with the pebble when they did our pool finish. Some of you might have remembered me trying to fix it when they came back by scooping some of the gunite out and sitting on the seat to see if it was OK. A big no no. Wet concrete gives you burns! It was not pretty. Burned legs and hands.

Now I have kidney problems they told me restless leg syndrome goes with that. It does isnt that an awful feeling.?

I have restless leg syndrome for the past few years. I am in my 40's and not yet pre-meno, although I am quite forgetful. Couldn't even describe the tingling feeling to my doctor. Ran across the description while online looking for something else.

Haven't felt the tingling in a while, since I stopped exercising (bad me)but just thinking about it is making them tingle. Talk about pshyco-simatic.

I just went to the doc with the same problem! She took me off Lopid (cholesterol med) and the burning is going away.

Interested in your "burning Legs" - my feet burn or tingle, mostly the bottom - kind of feel like they have cardboard attached to the soles of my feet. Will try that B-12. I told the dr I might have Peripheral neuropathy and she was astounded I knew anything about it...duh.... Don't have diabetes, which it is usually associated with. I don't take other medications. Now I've developed an itching at times - all over my body, with the scratching making huge welts and the whole area looking inflamed. She said I had allergies and told me to take allergy medicine.... Think this is something else.

I was involved in an automobile accident that required me to have an infusion on my neck. After my procedure, I was left with this dull feeling on the left side of my body, that also include this tingling burning sensation in my leg, my foot, and sometimes in the back of my left arm. My quack dr says I have some bruising and swelling on my spine and once they go away the burning will stop. But it havn't, its only gotten worst with time.
