vaginal and clitoris dryness
Comments (12)I'm sorry you were feeling down. I don't know about the Premarin cream--never used it--but I swear--the estriol cream does brighten my mood. I don't usually mention it--because I don't want anyone to tell me it is my imagination--but there's no doubt it corrects the dryness. (Just getting rid of the dryness is enough to lift my mood!) Oh, and by the way--you are not the only one with the dryness problem. It's just such a personal problem--some people find it hard to discuss. Many people aren't even aware that it is a problem--like I was. It took several UTIs for me to finally find out on the internet what was wrong. I was doing everything they say to avoid another UTI--yet they seemed to be happening more and more frequently. The estriol cream put an end to the UTIs. No doctor (and I saw several) told me about estriol cream--I had to find it out for myself on the internet and ask for the cream. For other women who don't yet sense the dryness it can be recurrent yeast infections that cause them to seek help. From what I have read--the lower estrogen levels in our systems can cause the pH to change in our bodies-especially in our urinary tracts and vaginas. (both are made up of similiar tissues). The different pH creates an environment where things like yeast and bacteria can flourish. We always have those things present--but the different pH allows them to grow to the point where they can cause an infection. (Sorry if that's more than you wanted to know :) I have read that this (menopause and it's symptoms) will pass. Even if it doesn't--at least now I know the solution to the problem. Also--it might help you to know that estriol cream is bio-identical and very weak. It's even thought by some to have some protective properties. I've even read that in Europe there are some age-defying skin creams that contain estriol. Anyway, I hope you are feeling better soon (physically and emotionally). I know how bad it can be when you think you're the only one--believe me--you're not. Dryness is a common problem--check out the net for other meno message boards and you will see. Comments (4)I have had vaginal atrophy for several years and it is so painful that I stopped having intercourse. Not a big problem since I am single but it is a problem because I would still like to be sexual but it's difficult to explain to someone you date the reason you don't want to have intercourse. Men just think you can add a little lube and it will be fine, but that doesn't work for me. I had breast cancer at age 40 and the chemo and other estrogen blocking meds put me into early menopause . My doctor prescribed me some vaginal suppositories but they cost $300.00 for a thirty day supply. I'm looking for other options and suggestions....See MoreAnyone use Vaginal Estrogen Cream?
Comments (15)I have been using an estrogen gel for several months. It does help moisturize the vaginal tissues. I used it daily for I think a week, then cut back to a maintenance dose of once a week. I noticed a difference after a few weeks. The gel is a bit messy as it liquifies quicker than the cream, but I had a reaction to the cream. I get the gel from a compounding pharmacy. The gel doesn't tackle my other symptoms, the main one being hotflashes, so I take a low oral dose of estradiol daily. The only side effect is breast sensitivity(from the oral med), but I can live with that. I can't live with the hotflashes. I've been on HRT for several years. I tried many types of estrogen after trying natural remedies(and other meds)first with no success. I get my blood tests done regularly and take the lowest dose that stops my symptoms. I would go ahead and try the cream to see if it helps. Just pay attention to how your body reacts and let your doctor know how it's going....See MoreFor Woman who have used vaginal Estrace for dryness and atrophy
Comments (4)After being on Kliogest for 3 months I had a very heavy 3 week bleed and told to immediately stop the hrt treatment and seek a Hysteroscopy to be sure there was no 'other' cause for the bleeding. After a complete all clear the Specialist has prescribed vaginal hrt cream which I commenced today. I shall keep you posted, but hope it helps with other menopausal conditions as I am particularly sad and down right now. At 53, I have just completed a teaching degree, I feel I could not enter the work force the way I feel just now, also sleepless nights loss of memory and hot flushes/night sweats:( Glad to read of your great results Garule....See Morembhs21
