What exactly is the significance of having no periods for 1 year? You are officially out of pre-menopause? You are officially in menopause? You are officially a "nut case" that no human being wants to mess with? (smirking here)

RE: after 1 year

theoretically it means that you can relax and assume you will have no more periods. It didn't quite work out that way for me. Last summer at the age of 58 I started periods again. I had a battery of unpleasant tests, but it turns out that I was just trying to crank out a couple more eggs. I think it may have been because my daughter was trying to get pregnant and my body was just sympathizing.
