Q1) Should I water it now? I might have asked this question a week ago when I planted it. I cut all roots at the edge of the hole and just hope thats ok. I used 50L of "Triple Mix Plus", potting soil and black earth. It is a 20" high tree now and I used all the nice soil in the pot it came in which I cut through and slipped off when I centered the plant in the hole. Currently it is 2.2C; forcast is above freezing but it may vary and also may rain &/or snow 8 inches here in Toronto in a few days. I DID NOT water it at all yet (but we had a couple inches of snow that has melted): except for below the plant level which I did the night before transplanting to compact settle the deeper loosened soil. Q2) Were the missing wood plugs from the old trunk from these "bugs" and should I do anything about it, like use a insect killer? At the bottom of the hole ~22" below this lawn's soil line at the last moment I saw a bug at the bottom of the hole. About 3/8" long, like a wetted thinner red ant but It was dark in colour, like a deep brown, but not quite black iirc, and It looked like it might have had wings. Not white; so not a termite? (are all termites even white?). On the 50 yr. old ROS I removed all around the trunk at the bottom it was de-barked in area down to what looks like notches with distinct edges gouged out of the wood characteristically 1/4"w x 13/16"l x 1/8"d. Like a tiny OO shaped or gouged out oval swiming pool hole in the trunk wood. I do not know the name of these worm-hole-plugs or the bugs that I saw, or if they are related. I do have a pic of the holes, but not the bug(s) if necc.

I asked the authorized dealer that we purchased it from when the tech came out and gave me the bad news , or told him that we needed to get a Carrier Regional Rep. out, he just said good luck, if you do get him out, you'll probably be on a long waiting list. I did have another service tech out, and he told me that since the dealer did not register this unit with Carrier, the warranty is only for 5 years,#*^%#$$$, I guess I'm pretty upset now since if I do replace the compressor, I only have 1 more year warranty left. When they installed the system, we only have Propane for the Heater, well they never put the nat. to propane orifices in, which caused a loud noise, like a BOOM every time it fired up. I had to threaten him with a legal letter to finally get someone out to do the right thing. Really makes me think the Tech. didn't know much about anything. A/c does have the model # 24NANA1, or 7. I have a very similar problem -- my son lives at home, sleeps much of the day away, and does very little to help around the home. Although, he is a sophomore in college and so far has maintained good grades despite what I think is excessive use of weed and not sure what other kinds of partying. He has minimal interest in me, his other family, or doing much except his studying and going out with friends. He is moody and very difficult to talk with about most anything. I am a single mom and I am supporting him through college except that he gets tuition paid because of his good grades so far. He did not live at home his freshman year, now he is home and I am saving money by not having to pay room and board. Yet, I see him in so much of what you all are saying. He contends that he cannot work part time because of his school load, but has made no effort to see if there is any work on campus or anyplace he could work. In the summer he found a short term job, yet put no effort into finding work after that. Many of the suggestions here are so helpful. I need to make it uncomfortable for him to live here unless he contributes. He seems to have minimal desire to change or make anything of his life. Getting through school seems to be his validation for doing little else. I do not like having to deal with the anger, name calling, put downs against me when I ask him to do chores and contribute to the home. It's difficult. Both my own guilt and he can be surly and very mean. Looking for more ideas and suggestions. My first attempt will be to require chores for spending money. It will likely not go well. There will be a barrage of insults hurled at me. Yet, I need to make a stand for us both. I have a brother who is still living off of our parents at 50 years old. I do not want this to happen. Thanks for the replies! I measured the skylights from the inside and they seem to be 39 x 41. Not sure if the Velux Fixed FS S06 will fit, or if I'll need to get the FSR. The roofing company here in CT was saying it's going to cost $1185 to replace each skylight. So basically like $2400. That involves flashing and trim etc. That sort of seems insane. I was thinking maybe $1600 for both. We already signed the roofing contract but that was before I decided we should replace the skylights. Please let me know if that price seems way out of line.
