I have symptoms (same as my mother) of early onset Menopause. At 35 years old I've already suffered the hot flashes and night sweats and irregular menstruation. I've had the symptoms come and go since I was about 30-31 years old. A handful of years ago I suffered a false pregnancy and a Native American woman I knew told me about a combination of Soy Isoflavones and Black Cohosh (capsules) to help regulate my hormone levels. The combination brought my hormone levels back into balance within a matter of days, relieved and eliminated ALL of my pregnancy symptoms. When I started having the menopause symptoms more frequently I tried them again on the theory that if they can regulate hormones from "pregnancy" back to normal then perhaps they would help with menopausal symptoms too. I have since discovered that adding St. John's Wart to the mix also helps with the irritability that goes with it all. I've taken these together for 3 years now. I noticed a change within a matter of 2-4 days when not taken consistently. When taken consistently I have noticed that they tend to reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes and night sweats (if not eliminate altogether for extended periods of time). They also tend to regulate the timing and duration of menstruation to a more consistent schedule as well as reduce cramping, fatigue, mood swings and irritability. The time it takes for the hot water to get to your faucets or shower is related to the distance the water has to travel from the hot water source to the sink and the diameter of the hot water building supply pipe (typically 3/4 inch) as well as the feeder pipe to the sink (typically 1/2 inch). A 3/4 inch pipe holds about 8 ounces of water for every 3 feet of pipe. So if your tank (or tankless) unit is 90 feet away from a faucet, you would have to push out about 1.8 gallons of cold water (plus whatever water is in the feeder pipe, a 6 foot section of 1/2 inch pipe holds about 8 ounces of water) before the hot flows. A typical sink faucet will run at 1.5 gallons per minute maximum flow rate - so you are looking at over 1 minute to get hot water in this scenario. With tankless units, there is also a small delay between the time the unit senses water flowing through it (which triggers it to fire) and the time the unit heats the water up to the set temperature. There are 3 ways you can eliminate the long delay. The first is to put a hot water source (tank or tankless unit) closer to the sinks that are far away from the current source. The second way is to use point of use hot water generators under key sinks that you use. These POU units are very small tanks or tankless units designed to service just once sink. The last method is to install a recirculating loop where you constantly circulate hot water through the hot water building supply. I have a Rinnai tankless system that we installed in the basement directly below the master bathroom. From the time I turn on a shower or sink, hot water is flowing within 10 seconds. That was the good news. The bad news was that the kitchen sink and 3 other sinks that we use often are over 120 feet away from the Rinnai tankless units. Just before we finished the house, we discovered that it was taking several minutes to get hot water at the kitchen sink - and that was unacceptable to us. I wound up installing a recirculting loop. This was not the way I would have preferred to do it, but space and venting in the basement on that side of the house was an issue. You could just live with the delay you have - 1 minute isn't that bad. If you decide to fix the delay, I recommend posting some details on the plumbing forum and seeking advice on how best to correct.

I also am very happy to find websites like this. Never had a problem until 64 and doctor thought I needed some estrogen for "dryness" issues. I was on Estriol compounded as it is not sold in U.S. but is in other countries. 2 1/2 months had to stop using as it made me ill. I realized later it was ordered too strong . My Gyn was also an Ob and specialized in adolescent pregnancy. What was I thinking !! Started very disturbing symptoms about 2 months after the end of Estriol. Profuse sweating, followed by chills, rapid increase in heart rate (over 130), dizziness and nausea in the middle of the night, night after night. I was so exhausted I ended up passing out and in the hospital. First Cardiologist, then Endocrinologist and finally going next week to GYN specialist. Of course went through the "you must be having anxiety" talk. Did I mention I am a retired Major in the Army Nurse Corps and psychiatric trained Reg. Nurse. I only mention this as I was almost starting to believe them. Thank GOD, and I mean this, I started to do my own research. Hot Flashes and Night Sweats with severe vasomotor reaction, very common. Well I say with all my heart thank you ladies for sharing on sites like these. It has been 81/2 months and they are definitely less. I am using magnesium, Vit. E, watching sugar intake, doing deep breathing , trying to control stress and thinking about Remifemin. Good luck to everyone .
