Another 'Hot Flash' question

Since I am new to the menopause game, is there any rhyme or reason to the timing of hot flashes. Does it occur at any time or just around when your period should be due?

According to my Gyno doc, it COULD be at this time for you, if you've just started... after ovulation, hormone levels drop... so for you, a beginner, could be your time. EVERYONE is different, so if you're one of a kind, don't feel bad.

Mine started a month ago, just when my last period should have happened, but didn't.

I'm 42 and for about the past year, I've had warm flashes in the wee hours of the morning a day or 2 before my period starts.
