Dear Larry, You are absolutely right. Trans fat laden margerine has and will continue to kill people prematurely by the millions. Let me point out that I am not one of your American nutritionists, in fact I don't even want to talk to these people with miserable bachelor academic credentials, following guidelines set forth by their "American Dietetic Association" which is basically preaching the wisdom of big (processed) food corporations. I am a nutritional chemist and had to study for my degree for 8 years at the University of Berlin. Unlike American nutritionists I know how margerine is made and if anybody knew what they were eating they would puke. A roach is more intelligent about eating healthy. Put a blob of margerine on your windowsill and it will still be there in 2 years untouched by any insect. So if margarine was so bad for you where are your lawyers, why has nobody appologized including your American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, The Harvard Institute etc., all advocating to eat margerine instead of butter? You would be well advised to read what this foundation stands for, click on the link below. Fortunately Europeans have always been suspicious of junk food science spread in America. Every single modern trend is a killer: Low fat - absolut rubbish and responsible for the high degree of diabetes in your country. Fat slows the absorption of sugar into your blood. Low Sodium - Again killing millions of people prematurely and responsible for millions of people suffering from astma and high blood pressure. Sodium in balance with Potassium is the most important mineral to stabilize your blood pressure. Drink milk for Calcium - what a joke, milk will deplete your body of vital Magnesium and CAUSE osteoporosis. US milk is full of puss, eat French cheese where puss count is regulated. Pop multivitamins and rest easy when eating junk food - people on multivitamins are 10% more likely to die early vs. people who don't take multi-vitamins. Eat soy - good luck, you need it. etc. etc. By the way beer is healthy but make sure it's additive free. I lecture at community events, my theme is "Challenging politically correct nutrition". Mary: Does an implant mean that your tooth will die? Or can they preserve the root in spite of the screw? And I think that a peg tooth is a full sized tooth that has been shaved/drilled down so that a crown can fit snuggly over it. A peg tooth is a livng tooth, but all of the enamel is gone and it is somewhat pointed. I do have a crown on a peg tooth. Do not look in the mirror when they are mounting your crown. The peg tooth, which is in fact the size of a baby tooth, is really, really different looking. The word that best describes it is scary. I try to avoid looking into my dentist and his assistant's glasses/eye protectors when that tooth is exposed. Because my mouth looks like something out of a horror movie with the exposed peg tooth in the open gum of a full sized tooth. I lost my two front teeth in a bicycle accident when I was about nine, one tooth finally died when I was in my twenties, and now I have beautiful crowns in front. I just got back today from having two old crowns removed, decay cleaned out along the gum line, and am awaiting two new crowns. My teeth have posts in them (does that make them implants?) already, so I am only paying for new crowns. Between our insurance and our medical reimbursement account, I'm not paying for this work directly. Our medical reimbursement account gave us a "credit card" to pay for our health care expenses. It's extremely convenient. It seems like you've gotten great advice Mary. Save that tooth. Unless you love eating firm or highly sticky foods (like those suckers, what are they called? "something daddies" that are perfect for removing certain types of dental work), give this tooth time. Keep your mouth cleaned and floss gently to prevent decay around the base of the tooth. If you can keep your mouth clean and healthy, and avoid hitting your mouth or eating difficult to chew foods (or biting pens, apples, nuts, hard candy, nails etc), I would think that you could wait a half a year. Because we are on a tight budget, we have to alternate my DHs and my dental work with orthodonture for seven kids, I have postponed dental work for years (not root canals but cavities) but just keeping my mouth clean and maintaining twice a year check ups. Finally, if you want to whiten your teeth, pick a nice bright shade for your crown. I didn't choose the ultra white "A" grade that everyone who works in my dentists office has, but sort of a soft, mellow white, the "B" grade. Still white, but not the "you need your sunglasses to look at my smile" white. I really wish God had given us three sets of teeth.

Shirley, I read your post just now while eating oat bran. LOL Usually I cook it in a bowl in the microwave, sometimes adding raisins before cooking. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of cinnamon. Occasionally I stir in some applesauce after cooking. Tonight I was eating it uncooked, mixed with wheat germ and some raisins and walnuts, and sweetened slightly with one drop of stevia. Cooked or uncooked, I eat it with soymilk. Actually, oat bran is very much on my mind right now because I have to launder a shirt and shorts that are covered with it. I fell down my porch steps this evening while holding a bowl of cooked oat bran and soymilk, and it got all over me--hair, arms, clothes. What a mess. I don't know how it happened. My DS was right there, and he doesn't know how it happened either. I'm just glad I didn't reinjure my bad knee. Anyway, I didn't get to eat any of it, so that's why I was eating it uncooked a little later.

JESS: Thank you for the pics. & neat info. about Badger .. I really enjoy learning about the animals in South Africa. One cup of chicken manure per bush is TOO MUCH. In a British rose forum, a lady burnt her roses by using chicken manure once a month. In my cold zone, I use chicken manure VERY SMALL amount when the temp is cool & rainy. Folks use Rose-Tone (has chicken manure) once a month for roses in pots. But that has only 1/6 chicken manure. I would use only 1/2 cup, 1 cup would be too salty. I killed a rose by mixing 1/2 cup of chicken manure in the planting hole. When chicken manure touches the root, it kills the root, best to dilute ONLY 1/2 cup with soil before spreading around the bush.
