numbness in extremities anyone?

I am 52 was pretty normal until my period stopped for 8 months. Now I have aches and pains, high heels kill my feet and I get numbness in my feet and legs, extremely cold hands. I already have seen my family doctor and he sent me to a neurologist, had mri of brain, neck and back. Enough blood work to last a few years. My hot flashes, mood swings and crying jaggs are mild in comparison.

I am 54 and the same thing no period for 8 months and then WHAM started bleeding heavily and on the 4th of July no less. Just started to have numbness in my feet and legs. I just went to the Dr. for a referral for a Mammogram and Colonoscopy and also told her about my Mood swings, crying, getting angry and told her I needed something. Was put on 20mg. of Paxil and that's when I noticed the numbness. She wants to do fasting labwork, for Diabetes, Thyroid, Kidney, and Cholesterol function. Do you take any supplements? I have been taking 2000 mg of Fish Oil, 1200 mg Calcium w/ Vitamin D, 2000 mg. of D3 and a Thyroid Complex. I also wanted to mention that I am about 40lbs overweight, which doesn't help matters. Now my blood pressure is borderline high. It's hard to get motivated when you feel like crap!!!

Hi Earthygal,

Glad to get a response! I was taking multi vit,omega 3's,cod liver oil,curcumin (for aches) which seems like the only thing that really works. Now taking products from Mitchell May for 2 weeks Powder supplement, womens vit, vitamin C. Other products from health food store Calcium-Mag combination,curcumin. I tried to stop everything else but that didn't work too many aches.
From what I understand reduced hormone levels can cause just about any symptom. I am not taking any prescribed meds because no doc is listening that closely. My new gyno gave me a pamphlet and a diet sheet, I called administration and changed gyno's, haven't scheduled an appointment yet and yes it was a woman!! I am sorry but I am about the same amount overwieght as you and women that weigh 110 lbs are having big issues with meno also.

I hope you were entertaining at home on the 4th and not at the park. We have to pick our battles with meno, what are we going to ignore this week and what will we allow ourselves to freak out about. I went to a baseball game last night, gave all these requests park close to where the seats are, not too many stairs etc. what do I do as we are leaving? Stumble going up the stairs and almost fall, same thing I did last time. It's like I have to stand for a minute and work out the kinks before heading out.

For that plant, $15.50 was cheap! It went up to $31.11 + $6.00, which was closer to what it would have sold for normally. I don't feel quite as bad now, because I wouldn't have paid that much for it. Previously, a similar one sold for $15.50.

Alana, I'm colder than your zone so some of my experience might not apply, but once the roses (and bulbs) start growing, there's nothing I can do to convince them to stop. They might get a bit frost nipped here and there, but unless you get weather returning to the 20's for several days in a row (and that's all day, not just a brief tip in the night), you should be fine. Apparently roses when they first start growing in spring have nature's equivalent of "antifreeze" in their canes and they're more insulated against cold snaps than they are later in the season. Roses like the rest of the garden are reading a multitude of factors that you may not be aware of (e.g. day length, soil temperature, moisture), and they usually know what they're doing or can recover from it if not. As for pruning, I prune off obviously dead wood as soon as the crocus and such come up, which is before the official forsythia blooming start to pruning season. Dead wood is dead, and the rose doesn't know you've cut it until you get into live cane. If you're worried that it's too early to prune, leave an inch or so of probably dead wood on the tips, and it'll just be a haircut to the rose, not a stimulus to start growing more cane. Once you can tell that the rose has indeed given up on that cane, and you feel better about stimulating growth, you can do a second round of pruning to get rid of those stubs. In my zone, we always have to do 2 or 3 rounds of pruning to get rid of cane that was only temporarily alive in the spring, so this isn't unusual for us. Bottom line for me is I prune off dead wood as soon as I feel like being out in the garden, and then do a more detailed prune once the leaves are definitely emerging. I figure if it has leaves it's going to be subject to weather variations with or without my pruning, and I want to get it done before planting season starts. Cynthia

What wonderful help from special KT friends! Thank you! DH was discharged yesterday afternoon. Told to schedule a nerve conduction study (sensors on the skin). This is not the invasive nerve study where electrodes are inserted into the muscles. The Hospital Primary handling the discharge cautioned that the hospital will always do a zillion tests and pursue every little abnormality -- so he should discard some of the long, lonesome trails that could follow up on those. (A nodule on his liver, for instance.) She said we could try the B12 and the ALC; it couldn't harm him. They want him to continue with sodium cholride 1000MG tabs twice daily for a while (none available at the pharmacy until Tuesday, so I wonder what we could do with plain table salt.) She gave him Baclofen 5MG (muscle relaxant) to take before dinner. This morning I finally reacted to the stress with shingles -- a forgone conclusion for me. It's just on my left temple. Had it on right temple 15 years ago. I took two of the 500MG Valcyclovir that I'd been issued when I stared infusions for my Multiple Myeloma and called the cancer center. The doctor on call gave me 21 more Valcyclovir, and I'm confident this will ease the problem as it progresses. I'll be better if we can help DH...and once the Monogram tech comes Wednesday to repair our fridge -- freezer works/refrigerator side is at 50F. DS brought be a little fridge he's used at flip houses...a lifesaver, but *so tiny*! When I picked up the Valcyclovir I got DH some sublingual B12 5000MG lozenges. The pharmacist didn't know anything about ALAcid, but I'll look on Amazon. Raven -- With help from our own Jasdip, we bought an electronic muscle stimulator (Creliver is the brand). It has foot pads and pairs of stimulator pads for use on the body. We're just learning to use it, putting the power to 30 and trying various 'modes' of current patterns. We haven't tried the pads yet. I see you use something like this at night; DH says he'll try the foot pads tonight. He's also taking CALM, a magnesium and melatonin powder, at night. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have your help and support! Thank you.
