All I can say is UGHHHHH!

In December 2011 I had my cycle, didn't have another one until June 2012. Had cycles from June 2012 to early January 2013 then not another one until this week (June 2013). UGHHHHHH!! LOL My cycle in June 2012 was really uneventful, just like a regular cycle, however, this current cycle is OMG horrible, not pain wise (actually not have any cramps which is unusual) but the bleeding is horrendous. I do not have insurance and really canÃ¯Â¿Â½t afford to go to the doctor. Was wondering if anyone else has had this type of pattern and can give some insight to how long I can expect this pattern to last??? Thank You!!

I forgot to mention that I am 47, will be 48 later this year.

It sounds as if what you are going through is pretty normal, meaning anything and everything at this stage can be related to perimenopause most of the time. I have the irregular periods as well but they will be heavy for about 2 days and then nothing. My sister however, had what you have the very heavy periods and her doctor related hers also to fibroids. Have you ever had an ultrasound to rule that out? Is there any way you can possibly find a clinic or even a Planned Parenthood to go to so you can get checked out? I wouldn't really worry too much because from what my doctor told me during this time our periods can either get really heavy or just the opposite and be very light, everyone is different. I just wanted to say thanks everyone!! Very informative articles and so much knew stuff you learn each day comming here...I never understood this about bark and wood.. All I can say is thanks! I FINALLY found some! Fir bark... I remebered buying orchards from someone I met in my area over 5 years ago that was growing beautiful and citrus back then, and I remembered him saying someday he was going to sellevery good supply he could think of for orchards and tropicals, to help people be sucessful at these plants. It was a dream of his. I saved his number from then. I called him, and come to find out, he is a big supplier of YES!! "fir bark"...We were both happy to hear from each other besides. He has fine and or small and medium grade...He says it's real real good stuff. He specializes in this bark..NICE ha. Now I am excited. I get a FREE delivery of three bags within the next couple of days... I will take a pic, and you can see if it as nice as he says when I get to using it.... If it is, then I would be willing to tell you where I got it privately, since it can be VERY difficult to obtain this hard to find good stuff..:-) A secret he shared. I asked him how his plants were doing. He said better than ever before, since he waters his plants once a month with, ready? Seltzer water, sodium free.... He explained the benefits in detail, hard to remember...Hummm.. As anyone ever heard of this, watering container plants with seltzer water?

Hi Carrie! I put a lily of the Nile in a large pot earlier this year. I used miracle gro potting soil and feed it with miracle gro. It is growing in the filtered shade of a mesquite. It was my first time with this beautiful plant and it is growing like crazy. It has put out repeated blooming stalks. The blue flowers are so pretty. I have been real pleased with mine so far and it is in the upper 90's now. I do not think full sun would be a good idea despite what the tag says. I am ready to plant more but will see how it goes in the summer heat. In the winter the pot received more sun and was ok with that. Good luck! Linda

Thanks for the welcome remontant. I agree 100% about being patient and setting goals! My hubby and I moved here in 2005 and we've been making plans for different areas of our yard since. We started a flower bed in the front of the house in 2008. As of right now, it holds a dwarf burning bush, Dwarf Josee lilac, hardy pink geranium, 2 spiderworts, a Provence lavender and a second set of 9 mums (I guess I killed the first set. They bloomed so pretty in 2008 but never came back :( so I finally got some replacements this year.) I have a few more plants on my list to get for this garden. Everything is still so small and the garden looks sooo empty. But I know that with time and trial and error, it'll be pretty in the end. This years goal is to create paths and a patio. Sorry... didn't mean to ramble on and on. Caffiene overload! Thanks again for the welcome!

WTH, how dare he make a comment like that to you when you are the one paying him tens of thousands to build your home. That is pretty ballsy of him! For all the things he has done wrong, you should be compensated. Our builder is not organized either and we've told him flat out..if he orders something wrong he is the one that will pay for it not us (we are cost +). Still, I'm always on him asking to verify everything even before he orders. Every day I wonder why I am paying him, when it seems like I'm the supervisor here. I've already contacted one of the subs directly because when I asked our builder for more details he couldn't answer and never got back to me. So annoying! It seems like you are cost + too. I hope you deducted for all his mistakes. Our builder hired a sub that did some pretty bad damage to the existing landscaping and he knows full well he is on notice and if he doesn't correct it we will go after the sub, him, or both. I wouldn't be such a b*tch about it if he admitted his error and that he wasn't there supervising..instead lied because we have witnesses that have already agreed to testify to what they saw and heard that day. All we got from the GC was a I'm sorry..sorry, but that's not good enough when your sub damaged approximately two thousand worth of landscaping and the irreplaceable cost of antique trees. All dead. Don't let this contractor push you around and treat you like that. You are the one writing the checks..it is YOUR money he is working for you. So funny he is telling you he is getting paid minimum wage..what a character! So sorry you are dealing with this.

TinaL thanks for the insight. Yes about 5 years ago I did get checked for fibroids and everything was normal. I have been having the hot flashes and night sweats for probably 7-8 years now so I knew it was coming... but for my body to play tricks on me like this is just not cool! LOL I was talking to a friend of mine last night and she informs me she just stopped having her cycles when she was 40... none of this on and off crap... I wanted to beat her up for bragging! LOL I just got a little over excited about the heaviness of this one. sigh...guess it's just a part of the process.

I've been going through pretty much the same type of thing on and off for the last few years. I didn't have a period this time since Jan 2013 and was hoping that was 'it'; but I started near the end of June 2013, and the period has been long and quite heavy. But no cramping really, so it's not my typical period. I'm 50 years old.

I guess it's pretty much 'normal' for this to happen. Not that I'm trying to say you shouldn't see a doctor if you feel you should.

58 and still getting visits from auntflow! i thought i was done 6 months ago.Today was so heavy I had to go and get some Hema plex at the health food store. 2 yrs ago I had a d&c and went on progesterone (provera) . It was horrible! But no period while I took it for 6 months, I was a total witch though!!! had a blood clot in my leg that showed up 2 days after the d&c. I was looking into the davini surgery and after the clot he said no surgery for you! If this continues again like it did two years ago I am going to find a doctor that will do the surgery! Time will tell!

OMG!! auntflow, you are 58 and still getting periods? I am 50 and i am wondering how much more of this rollercoaster i can take and now to think i could possibly have 8 more years of this makes me want to have a complete panic attack!! The anxiety, mood swings and fatigue just to name a few are going to put me over the edge. I feel for you!

All I can say is UGHHHHH!
