Well, experiment didn't work so well, it seems... the bit that I had sticking down into the honey mixture has turned brown on each plant, and I had forgotten to bag them, so they're totally droopy and not looking so good... I have put the suckers into some potting mix and bagged the three of them, so hopefully they'll perk back up. :( I was so excited.

CMT, Rooting hormone is not usually used on violets because you are not really after roots, you are after babies. The hormones will stimulate root growth and suppress plantlet growth. I used it at one time and was not very successful with it. Lots of roots; babies, not so much. Everything I have read of others using it says the same thing. We do need root formation but, as AV's root readily, this using RH is not necessary and may slow things down considerably. Let us know how our experiment turns out. Everyone's growing conditions and growing practices are different so you may be successful with it. Linda

Hi Luis - I was hoping that you,gardengal, Hay & George ... might have read my ??? on transplanting, ground-layered stems of Nikko (never) Blue. Here's my original post several weeks ago on another thread: About my old Nikko (never) Blue ... to rehash: for SECURITY ... in early June, did 4 cuttings (1 died, the rest, doing great & have grown 4 tiers of leaves ... did 2 ground-layered stems (in split pots) as well ... are now giants ... thick canes, have even grown a few, very good, axillary-leaf-buds (so exciting!!!) now my ??? 1. How can I tell if ground layered stems, have good enough roots now, to safely wean from old Nik? Do I split pots all the way open, to check roots? 2. Should I sever one, ahead of the other & leave it where it is, to see how it behaves? 3. Realizing the difficulty of digging up old Nik ... better in Sept or should wait 'til Spring (over-wintering with 2 ground layered pots would be more tedious ... Nik's future home has been readied - huge empty pot - sitting in hole!) 4. If big excavation, to be done this Fall ... where best to over-winter ground-layered pots - garage or go ahead & sink in ground/over-winter as required? Sorry, very long ... I've had what you are going through and it was alarming when it first started in my early 30's. Now in 50's. Turned out it was caused by early onset menopause due to an autoimmune condition. I found it embarrassing to say the least and frustrating to no end. To find a physician who believed it could be The Change at my tender age was a challenge. I don't try to answer the phone with the tv remote control anymore. ; ) But I do resort to calling people Hey There, or Hi You more than I would like. The names...poof, all gone. I find aerobic exercise, pristine diet and various supplements help, but my previous amazing brain is not looking like it will return to it's glory of yesteryear. But again, at least I don't try to answer the remote control anymore lol. The first clue for me back then was that I would put my make-up on but forget mascara and go to work. Co-workers would look at me like what's wrong with you? (I work in a beauty field) I was like, what?? They would say, did you forget something? I was like what ARE you talking about? They would say to me, go look in the mirror. I was aghast. I f o r g o t mascara! It sounds silly, but in the beauty field, you go nowhere without your mascara. And if you do, there is something very wrong with you. The doorway to any room also erases memory of why you went in there. lol. Not funny, but it's true. I agree with the others about having your thyroid and hormone levels checked. Both can cause a myriad of issues. Sounds like you had general anesthesia recently...that can do it too like the others have said. I used to be mom friends with the wife of an anesthesiologist. He told me how what he does for a living is a mystery. Taking people to the brink of death, but keeping them alive during their surgeries then bringing them back to the normal world all in the same day is greatly not understood, but they do it. Memory loss does in fact happen for a long time in some people. I hope you find relief soon. Try not to worry too much, but have it checked out.
