I have a mammo every year but how often do you have your paps? Interested in those over 55 yrs old and how often they go.

I think it is annually unless you have had a hysterectomy.

The one Papilio I got in January put out 3 lanky leaves as soon as I potted it up semi-hydro style. It has been outside all summer, and I've pretty much ignored it until last week when I noticed that 4 more leaves were peaking out. The bulb has also bulked up a bit and a little digging revealed an offset. Now if it would just bloom already...

Ashley, nice to hear from you again..those seeds you sent me are still growing, maybe in a few years I'll be posting pictures of YOUR crosses!! Joe, But of course....!! Haven't used any yet, it's in the fridge and there wasn't really much pollen at all.. My original Exotic Star is sleeping and I had it planted outside in a barrel so it won't have any roots this season so..I bought another one a few days ago. When it blooms I might try the same cross again, but, I WON'T keep any of the seeds. I'll offer them up if anyone wants to give them a try. The only thing is that I notice that this year's Exotic Stars seem to be lighter in color than my original one was..less pink. And, on an unrooted bulb she may not set seeds so easily. But, I might give it a try anyway just to see if the same cross will take again. I've got a few Fairy Tale x Lemon Star (or the other way around) that look like they might big enough to bloom..I'm hoping before the winter is over one will send up a scape! Not really an exciting cross though but, you never know....Stay tuned..... Donna

It took me about 3 months.I had to go back for a different mask then had to modify my new mask with sticky foam to prevent air leaks. Once I adjusted to the mask I could really tell the difference in my sleep quality. Word of warning- wear the CPAP every night. My husband was sick and complained about the noise and the air blowing on him so I stopped using the CPAP so he could sleep. It was just as hard to re-adjust to using the machine the second time. Next time he was sick he slept in another room. My sis is just about to go through a sleep study. Her doc thinks she needs a mask. "but,I don't snore" she said, "yes, you do" we said. If you have more questions I'll be glad to help you out. I am offically released from wearing the mask now.

I just started using my C-Pap about a month ago and I love it! I agree that if you are waking with a sore throat your mouth is opening and you're breathing through your mouth. My sleep study showed that I sleep with my mouth closed so I have the mask that goes over my nose. I have my humidifier on #2 and the air feels normal (not cold). I can't believe how much better I feel now! I am so happy that I finally went for the sleep study (I stalled for over 2 years because I was embarrassed). The results of the sleep study showed that I have a severe case of sleep apnea. Yikes! Oh, one more thing, if you have questions or concerns there is a great sleep apnea forum on the internet. Just Google "Sleep apnea forum". It always helps to read about others who are newbies and regular users to their machines. Susan

I know they say it is every year and I have been going every year but I had read some time ago that if you don't have any probs that every 2 years would be ok. Just wanting to know if other go less than every year.

I don't remember what I have read, but there is something to what you are saying. No problems may be one thing, and no sex at all may also be a factor. Even without a Pap smear, they have to check the rest of the plumbing, so they might as well just check it out, I guess. I'm going to start a new post that sort of relates to this.

the thing about pap smears is its a game of chance and statistics - a pap smear has a 5% to 30% chance of a false negative result (thats missing abnormal cells ) - so if you go once a year then statistically you are reducing the chances of getting a false positive (ie. 3 consecutive tests in a row are highly unlikely to be false positives)

My experience is that the doctors say every year. The insurance companies say every 2 years. Hmmm.....

What is so discouraging is a pap smear will only show cancer of the cervex. It does not show any other type. I even had a vaginal ultrasound on the 8th of August and it did not pick up this cancer. I just don't get what good they are if they can't detect much. Very costly also.

However, that being said I do believe every year an exam is in order. Without it nothing could be caught.
