So scared......

I am so glad I found this sight. I too have made a couple of trips to ER and all results came back normal. Could NOT figure out why. Glad to know I'm not alone. Does anyone get the loud whistle in their ears before the palpitatios and spiking blood pressure? I get so dizzy that I don't dare stand up. Scares me so bad! What can I do to stop or lessen these horrible things? I'm not on any meds and don't really want to be. Is there anything nautural I can do.......Help! I have already cut out all caffine, sugar and spicy foods. I don't smoke or drink. What's left?

Lady N, a lot of us are having the same issues to varying degrees. As I write this, I'm having an episode where I feel like I'm going to keel over. See the thread about the weird head feeling. From what I've been able to glean from online researching, almost all menopausal women have too much estrogen running through our systems right now. So my go-to thing is progesterone spray. The creams work well too, I just could never use them up before they expired, so I switched to this handy little spray. You can find it online by googling, progesterone spray. The other thing I do is drink an electrolyte drink everyday. Not sure if we're allowed to name products, but I use Crystal Light Pure, Strawberry and Kiwi. It's made with Stevia, not fake sugar, and it has electrolytes in it. I don't like stevia, but you don't even taste it in this at all. Hope this helps you. Hang in there.

Also try Calcium Magnesium and Aloe Vera Gel Tabs....5 years ago I suffered with lots of palps and I took these suppliments and they did help me...the palps stopped and I stopped taking them....now theyre back so I just ordered more Cal/Mag and Aloe....I'm hoping they will help like they did before.

Okay, thank to all who have replied, but I am still so confused about this vine. I've read to cut it back, or keep it cut back to 18-24inches during the first year of growth. I don't even know how old this plant would be considered. I do know that I had one long spindly vine growing up the trellis, I had read that isn't what you want. So I decided to cut it back. But I was so scared to do anything to it. It still looks like the pic above, in this post. Except now, I've cut back that one spindly vine and I see nothing happening now. It looks just like it did the day I purchased it, weeks ago. Now it's not even climbing the trellis. I guess I'm waiting now for something to happen where I cut back, but don't even know what I'm looking for. I can't even tell what's what on this thing. Branches, twigs, hard wood, soft wood, last years wood, this years wood, leaves, buds, I couldn't for the life of me tell you where what starts and where what ends. It's a tangled mess, all down at the bottom. There are two or three main stems coming out of the dirt. I assume that's the start of each section of the vine. So I'm assuming, if I see three main stems coming from the ground, somewhere amongst all the tangled mess, there should be three endings, to each of those stems, in which I could train to climb the trellis if I could find an ending. I don't know, but maybe I should just leave it alone. It's not dead, it's green, I see one ending that might be showing new growth, but if it is, it's still only gonna be one long lanky little vine growing up the trellis all alone, because I can't tell where what starts and where what ends. I'd much rather sacrifice any additional blooming this year and have this thing put out new growth from the ground. But I don't know if I should chop this thing all the way to the ground or not. I just planted it this year, know nothing about it and have done nothing but stress since I got it. I guess if it starts growing again, and I do have that one piece start growing up the trellis, I should just leave it and enjoy it. If I knew that cutting it back all the way to the ground would help it in any way shape or form I'd do it. That way I can see it as it grows, where the starting and ending points are, if that makes any sense. Because as it is now, I can't tell what's what. The thing that worried me about pressure canning was the boom factor. Just knowing that thing was there and was building pressure and was sitting mere feet away from me while I watched that gage was unnerving the first time or two. Then I got used to it and it was fine. Eventually, I preferred using the pressure canner over using the BWB canner because you don't have to keep that boiling water level topped off. Quarts especially are terrible in a BWB because there is usually not much room to spare above them as it is. Granted, you can't just set it and forget it with a PC, but it is a lot easier to just watch and adjust the burner. The one thing that I do not like about PC is that it is more time consuming per batch than BWB. You have to start with relatively cold water, wait for the temp and pressure to ramp up, then time it, then wait for the temp and pressure to fall, then you're done. With BWB, you can fill the pot with new hot filled jars as soon as you are done with the first load and never miss a beat. Water maintains a boil before, during (mostly) and after. Double or triple batching (separately maintained batches) is a breeze with BWB since you can prep and fill jars close to the time the current load is going to be done. You can't make one big triple recipe and divide it, but you can make three separate recipes and process individually and then can each in succession. Nice for relishes or chutneys or anything that has to marinate overnight as long as you have refrigerator space to do it. I PC canned a lot of pints of green beans and they tasted just like the cans you get at the store. That's fine by me because I like that flavor. But if I do them any more, I'll do quarts instead of pints since I can down a pint by myself at one sitting. usually two. And I canned carrots in it as well. And it seems like plain blueberries. Been a while since I did those. Neither method is really that difficult. Just understand each and how to do them when you do them.

My dog did exactly the same thing one night. Much later I reflected that at the time he had been tied out temporarily in my parents' yard (was basically an indoor-outdoor dog)and at that particular time my father was out looking at stars with some telescope gadget he'd just gotten. The telescope made beeping noises as he zeroed it in or something. My dog made a beeline for under the bed the minute I let him in. He was such a smart dog that I think he couldn't figure out what was going on "out there in the dark" and that really frightened him. I wish I had been smarter that night and taken him calmly back out to just hang around with me and the telescope because from then on it seems he just developed a variety of phobias that I couldn't figure out how to cure. I think you would be wise to work on the fear of the dark thing; maybe take long delightful walks with her that she learns to love? Good luck.

Thank you all for your responses. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach yesterday. I am beginning to calm down a little and I do know that this is all beyond my control. I have worked for several years through group and individual therapy to reach that point. The way Im feeling now was how I felt every single day the past several years and getting that feeling yesterday just about did me in. Im sorry for all of you who have been through this horrible experience. I am most upset that after her terrible medical problem, two months of rehab, living in a group home and finally sober living home that this happened. Of course my biggest fear is that she will go back to drugs. I can't begin to tell you how helpful it is to come here and get such support. I don't feel as alone. These are the times that I so wish my husband were here with me. Thank you all for your compassion and understanding. Satine

Could someone please let me know what the right dosage of calcium and magnesium is for heart palpitations? These things are scary and they start up whenever they feel like it. Will they ever go away or is this how it's going to be I wonder.

I started menopause in my early 40s, and I was completely unprepared. I've found that some of the symptoms come and go, and some of them eventually just go away altogether while others stay. I didn't want to take anything, but I was lucky that my flashes weren't as terrible as some women have. Just the same, there were times when, in conjunction with a flash, I felt nauseous. And the first time I had palpitations, I had no idea it was bc of menopause. I lived alone out in the country, and I called my sister with instructions on what to do if I died, and asked her to call me back in an hour to check on me.
I think the best thing you can do for yourself is be informed. There are plenty of books on the subject nowadays (finally), as well as sites on the net. I read Christiane Northrup's book The Wisdom of Menopause. One site on the net that is fairly comprehensive and informative is webmd.
The one thing that I do, that I find to help me immensely, is deep breathing. It sounds hokey, but it really does work.
