Sudden roaring in ears?

Hi all,

I haven't had a period in 3-4 years, but continue to feel like my ovaries are occasionally spitting things out, which causes that cascade of yukky hormone fluctuations.

I saw my ENT last week for burning/pressure in my sinuses. I was concerned that my CPAP was causing it. He ordered allergy testing, which is tomorrow.

I had suspected that my hormones were acting up, since I seem to have a set of symptoms when that happens......sinus dryness, anxiety, trouble swallowing, fatigue, painful joints and muscles, etc.

After I left the ENTs office last week, my ovaries began to hurt really bad.......so I KNOW its my hormones.

Anyhow, last night, I suddenly had the worst roaring in my ears I've ever experienced. I really couldn't hear much of anything else. It was horrible. This morning its a little better. But I was wondering........do any of you get occasional roaring in your ears with hormone fluctuations?

Geez.......is there anything that fluctuating hormones don't mess up???

Hi Catherinet - I too had Tinnitus, the ringing and buzzing in my ears. I have done some research and found that it does happen in menopause but can also be caused by a condition known as Otosclerosis, which effects the middle ear. It has to do with bone growth on the tiny stapes bones in the middle ear. The bones prevent the middle ear bones from conducting signals going to the inner ear. There has been evidence showing that HRT can be a problem when it comes to tinnitus during menopause, among other things. Of course, it becomes more common the older we get also. Unfortunately I haven't found anything to take care of this but I thought this might be some interesting information for you anyway. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I sure can't imagine living with this happening very often. It was awful! I've seen a supplement supposedly made for tinnitus, but its probably useless.
I'm not aging very gracefully!

I push the soil down solidly around the plants then water heavily. You need to fill the cavities the moles or gophers have made under the plants with dirt. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Seems to depend on how dry the roots get before I try to save them. Even if you save them, the moles will come back unless you trap them. Gophers might behave differently, but moles like the moist soil and worms that live in it.

Hmmm maybe it's yeast, I thought it was fungus but I may have misunderstood. It's a wet, black goo that stinks if we don't clean it out regularly. Max is taking ketoconozole orally and that helps when I canget him to swallow it. I am returning the food. I like what I feed them but I might look into s no grain food as Max does tend to be heavier than he needs to be, but Z is the perfect weight. She is a lot more active than he is tho. Someone suggested vagisil but I thought that was weird but might try it if I can't get Max's ears to calm down. Guess the daily monitoring is just another part of being a good pet parent. We've got 4 dogs but Maxie's my boy...fell in love with him at first sight. I just can't understand how people can be cruel to dogs and get rid of them when they just don't fit their ideals anymore. Sorry, my rant of the day. Max was a rescue who'd been neglected & abused before he was saved and I met him.

Any time an animal makes a sudden change in urinary habits, the first thing you should do is check for any medical problems, like the above poster said. I have a chi now, he is a foster and I live in the northeast, I put his sweater on and he runs outside, does his thing and runs right back in. A little cold air isn't so bad, of course I wouldn't want to walk him or keep him out any longer than necessary though! I would just rather keep the bathroom habits consistant, and have him go outdoors whenever possbible. But for sure, I think a vet visit should be your first thing. There is a forum called Chihuahua People, free to join, all chi owners, you should be able to get more chi appropriate advice there, and don't worry about the backlash against potty pads, lots of people there use them, either becuase they live in very cold climates or are afraid a hawk or an owl will get the dog! ( horrible as it sounds, it happens!! )

Looks like over-watering/a water-retentive soil is the likely issue, but aluminum toxicity is a severely limiting condition that can occur when aluminum is available and the pH of the soil solution is 5.0 or lower; so you'd do well to lose the aluminum pie plate or at least raise the pot up on blocks so the effluent that drains from the pot has no pathway back into the soil.
