nearly 56 and damned tired of having periods

This can't be normal can it? Anybody else out there putting up with this? Tell me there is relief in sight. I am glad not to be having hot flashes and all of that but gee whiz people think I am hallucinating when I attribute my zits to my periods.

Have you seen a dr?I had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago love it,dont miss that at all.

I had one at 43 and was the best decision I ever made. My doc recommended it.

I love this thread. :) Well, it's August, so right now I pretty much hate everything in the garden. It all looks ratty this time of year. One exception: the "fall garden" is in full glory right now! If you don't have a dedicated fall garden, it is something I highly recommend! When everything else is spent and starting to get crispy, fall bloomers are just getting started. Mine has Early Amethyst Beautyberry, Limelight Hydrangea, a few tall purple Zinnias, Mexican Bush Sage, Autumn Joy and Matrona Sedum, Homestead Purple Verbena, Karley Rose Pennisetum, Fothergilla Major Mt. Airy...and this year I tried some Blackie Sweet Potato vine around the edges. It is SO NICE to have something to look at right now that doesn't look like death eating a cracker! Anyway, to the original question: I have decided I have way too many daylilies (only 25 or so, but still too many for me). I am so sick of pulling out dead foilage, and it started this year before they had even bloomed. I'm going to reduce them by about half in the fall, keeping only my very favorites. I've also discovered they are a bad thing to have at the front of a border for the dead foilage reason, so several will have to be moved.

Wow, what a bummer about that rabbit invasion......Isn't it interesting how we all have different kinds of critter invasions? I noticed that you used to live in Berkeley, which is where I am now and you had the same squirrel problem. I never thought about putting something sharp around pots, I've got to try that! I put up some hanging baskets and one day came home to find one smashed to the ground with a peanut buried in the soil. The squirrels bury those damn peanuts throughout my yard and if I don't check daily, they expose the roots of some plants and they dry out. You'd think that those of us that have dogs wouldn't have a critter problem, but even if they chase them off (like my dog Lucky does) they end up trampling a bunch of plants. Now I've got a rat visitor who likes to munch on bits of sunflower seeds that have fallen from the birdfeeder and he's tunneling through my freshly placed crushed granite paths and digging up the gravel underneath. Tnx corrine... I have the motion sensors set on 'test' mode. When they activate they only stay on for 5 to 10 seconds unless there is constant movement then they stay on until no movement is detected. I doubt the deer will ever get used to the lights, the radio, the noise and the swinging lights on the DeerScare... no signs of deer for six weeks now. Last year I tried ammonia in containers hung around, soap bars hung around, scare crows, and a radio playing all night long. Nothing worked for longer than a week. Star... The machine is powered by a 1.7AMP electric motor that is under the square metal box I built for over it as a weather protector. The motor could have been bigger (2 or 2.5 amps) since the arm that beeps the horn would hang if the arm stopped on the steel band that beeps the horn, the roller I made for the end of that arm helped. I might hunt for a larger motor over the winter, used washing machine motors are plentiful. I bought 2 electric motors at a metal recycling center for $5, disassembled both motors, cleaned them, oiled the bearings and reassembled them. They both worked. The one I used in the DeerScare is $90 new. View the DeerScare photos in the link below. For my application I had to grind down the the end of the motor shaft at an angle to start a piece of gas line hose over the shaft, rubber on rubber yields super traction. I used a 2"X1/2"ID piece of rubber gas line hose and started it over the shaft. I had to lightly heat the shaft with a propane torch to soften/nearly melt the hose to get it to slide over the motor shaft. The motor shaft/rubber hose is held pressed up against the bike tire with adjustable spring tension. The motor turns at 3750RPM which worked out to be a good speed for my application. I will try to post up current garden photos next week. We have over 32 bell peppers on eight plants, some peppers 6" long and turning red. We had many 40* nights the beginning of the season which caused a slow start for out tomatoes budding and setting fruit. Here is a link that might be useful: DeerScare Photos

LOL, we got a letter today from our attorney (a copy of the letter she sent BM's attorney) reminding him that the court said BM had to pay the whole thing. Considering BM's voice message to DH: "Call me as soon as you get my message. I just got off the phone with Dr. XX and they gave me a figure.. and um, it's just not gonna happen cuz neither you nor I can come up with that amount... so I have a call into my lawyer and um, I don't know what we're gonna do.. but I just wanted to give you the figure.. so give me a shout." Honestly, I think she lives in her own realm... disconnected from reality. She was in court when the Judge agreed that since she owed DH, she would pay all of it. And our attorney said the evaluation would cost around $5,000. So why is it a surprise to her? Why would she say "neither you nor I can come up with" or "I don't know what WE'RE gonna do" like it's THEIR joint problem... It's HER problem. He'd rather get the back support from her and leave things the way they are than have the back support used up for an evaluation to change everything. But, that's the nut job we have to deal with!

I don't know if I have this correct or not, but maybe you can get a procedure called an intrauteral ablation (or something like that)--it uses an electrical current and apparently destroys the lining of the uterus which would normally be sloughed off every month...don't know the "down" side of this, but I seem to recall "no periods!"

Ask your doc, I guess

I thought July had been my last month .... until last week. What a disappointment. I've been putting up with this patiently for 39 years, but to have the end so close and have the glory snatched away from me ....!!!! If I still have it by the time I'm 56 - I'll be insane!!! I'm 50 now and patience is running thin.

I started menopause early 40's. Was on hormones for 15 yrs. I asked for a hysterectomy and the dr laughed, but said the insurance would not pay for it. She told me I'd have periods as long as I took the hormones - for the rest of my life.... Yeah, right. When I quit the hormones, at about 57, I quit the periods... YEAH!!! Just replace the hormones with the natural things recommended!

Shouldn't your doctor do a blood test to see at what stage you are in menopause? Mine did a blood test for years and when I was 53, she told me that my counts were low and I should start on HRT (that was 7 years ago). The first year I still had periods and she thought it was someting else and did a couple of tests. She increased the progesterone part of HRT and my periods stopped. Now things are different, but still you might want to see if you need a natural progesterone or something. (Personally I go off of the HRT when the bad reports came out, but many of my friends still are on it -- a personal thing.).

My wife come in tonight and told me the DR. said she would need a hysteroctomy. my wife is on the Estragin Implants.
She is having a period sometimes every 10 days in chunks.
Dr said she also had a tilted something which Ins pays to have done..
Some one explain me what happens. Does she still have orgasms?
Does the vigina still wet. What changes, sex wise?\
Are there mood swings? how do I need to help her during this.
Not to be weird I just need educating and I didn't want
to ask her quesions now.

Fat Daddy, You need to ask questions to your wife. She needs your love and support, so you should not ask a question in such a way that she will feel that she is disappointing you. She will go through many hormonal changes that her doctor can help her with. She needs to come to this board and ask questions herself. Sorry, but it isn't appropriate for you to ask questions for her. Your concerns should be addressed to your own doctor or perhaps to a support group for men. You really should address your concerns, but not here -- you are not the one going through menopause.
