Question: Friend had period after menopause

I ran into a friend of mine that that is 54 yrs old. She told me that she had not had periods for 3 years straight, thinking that she had gone through menopause, then all of a sudden she got her period, which she blames on extreme stress after losing her job in this recession. I know it affects everyone in different ways, but she took it very hard and that could be the reason she got her period back.

Is this really possible? If so, when is it finally over with and knowing she is single and not dating, could she have become pregnant at any time during those 3 years? My God, I hope that never happens to me, because I do not know of one person that wants to have their periods back.

I am almost 51 and can't wait to stop having them!!!

RE: Question: Friend had period after menopause

I have been told that if you don't have a period for a year and then have one, you should see your OB/GYN. I had one after a year of no periods, but thought it was normal, since I had all the other symptoms that go with PMS too.
However 3 years seems a bit long. I would encourage her to see an OB/GYN to make sure all is okay.
Anything is possible as far as getting pregnant! But not if she hasn't had sex!
