no one to ask, but I need advice

Hi all!

I usually post at Diet Chat ot the KT, so I hope you don't mind if I butt in here--I really could use some advice.

I'm 42, and adopted, so I have no clue as to what to kinda expect as far as possible age wise, but I think I may be starting perimenopause.

I am not PG (based on 3 HPT, spaced out over days), but I missed my period this month (and I never miss), although I have the cramps, horrible bloating, grouchiness, etc... I have had trouble sleeping for several months, and I go from freezing cold to waking up in sweats. I'm moody, and my memory and consentration are *shot*.

I don't know just what I'm asking, but has this happened to anyone else? I don't have insurance, so I can't ask a doctor, so I hope someone here can help.

Sounds just like me! I missed my first period at 41, but they had been weird before that. Have you noticed that your periods had gotten closer together before you missed one? Believe it or not, this is one of the first signs that a woman can have...surprised the heck out of me:)....had all the symptoms you describe, fun, huh? That said, there are other things that can cause some of your symptoms...low thyroid comes to mind. The two can have similar symptoms. It would be nice if you could talk to a medical professional...When we lived in Kentucky and we didn't have much money, I applied for medical assistance and got it, even tho DH had a decent job..just a thought...Good luck and my thoughts are with you, Val

No, all my periods have been right on the mark, but (at the risk of TMI), they have been running really light, then a waterfall-- is this also a sign?

These are grown just like Kalanchoe and most other African Plants. The flowering is seasonal. Usually once a year. The under side of the leaves may turn red, mine did, perhaps from the cold, or maybe the sun. It does not like the cold, the leaves got frost bite. Some of the protective fur came off the leaves, and will not grow back on. I would water well during the summer months, and fertilize after I water. Water thoroughly weekly during the hot weather, making sure the rootball is also soaked. Anything I left out just ask. Also be sure if Yale has any more input. Yale give yours a jump start April 1 by replacing all the soil. (or as soon as your weather conditions settle) When is the last time you fertilized? Norma

everyone here is so great. I hate to take up any more space when i know that there are people here just starting out who need advice. I was going to go this one last decision on my own, and i believe that i know what i want, but keep going back and forth. i need to bring these tile samples back tomorrow and place my order. they tell it will take 6 weeks for my tile to come in. EEek! 6 weeks? Anyway, i have two natural stones from sonoma and can't firmly decide which one looks best with my granite, and kitchen overall. these will be 3x6 subways. I also will have a custom blend mosaic over my stove done in small rhomboid shaped tiles. the small tile pictured, will be in the mix and it will also be ordered in molding pieces to go around the mosaic blend. It will be against the subways, so i pictured it with the tiles. I want them to blend in with very little contrast. For some reason, my photos this morning show my granite darker. it really is more of a whiter white background. i also have pictured some crackle glazed tiles that i could do. i see really awsome glazed ones here. i found a glazed color of each of the stone tiles that i'm considering. i find that the martinique, the darker stone, picks up the grays in my granite. but, the lighter cashmere may overall go better in my kitchen and with my cabinets. I just don't know. This is driving my bonkers. one minute i tell myself i know which one and put the others back into the bag, then i find myself getting them out and changing my mind again. this has got to end. thanks so much for all of the help. i am still so undecided- i am ready to close my eyes and do eney-meney-miney-mo. i am currently doing some work in my home office stalling getting dressed to go to the tile store. i really just don't know, and everytime i choose, i keep changing my mind. no matter what, like rhome said, either one will work. its just a matter of knit picking now. i still love the way the martinique picks up the grey veins in the granite, but overall, i think the the cashmere looks best in the kitchen, especially with the cabs. i didn't want to add any more contrast and the martinique does add more contrast with the cabs. i also stated earlier that the cashmere had a color variance of 4, but it is a 3. the martinique is a 4. so the cashmere will be more consistent. Can you all hear me talking myself into the cashmere now? hogar-so you are decided huh? are you sure?:) just kidding. i am doing my mosaic in the tantrum "hemp", estate metals "verde", and the sonoma reserve "birch". this i didn't even have to think about. it looks so good. i would love to see your space. maybe you've posted and i just missed it? Our kitchen backsplashes will be similar. the flax is just about one shade darker than the birch. the mosaic is really 'juniper blend'. i found that the burlap is so beautiful in it, but way too dark and tan for my kitchen. i replaced it with the birch. i think that the hemp is really pretty. but, i couldn't advise you on or the river without seeing where you are putting it. good luck. i will follow up later after my trip to the tile store.

Are you sure you're not pregnant? It happened to a friend of mine at age 43. She now has a beautiful, healthy baby boy.

me too- comforting, since my mom's family hits menopause around 40, and tend to die around 60, and my dad's family's got diabetes, heart problems, and whatnot on both sides as far back as anyone can remember.

I had the opposite sign- got it three times in seven weeks.

after 15 solid years without a hiccup (even my 'irregular' periods follow a pattern- I'm so regular that my HUSBAND knows when I'm due) 'panic' is too soft a work to describe the feeling

turned out it was ok- just a follicle without and egg causing a huccup.

but find yourself a planned parenthood, love- or a university clinic, and get it checked out.

even if it's nothing, you deserve to know.

and while you're at it- write a nice letter to your congressman, senator, and Dear King George II, reminding them that not all of us are rich?

Maddie, I had some of your symptoms when I was diagnosed with low thyroid. The blood test for thyroid hormone is not all that expensive, nor is the medication if you get the generic brand. See if you can get a doctor to order the test for you. Maybe you can find a way to get it at a discount, since it is a common blood test. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, ladies!

I did call the local health department, and had a PG test, and nope--not that. I did start lightly spotting several days after I posted, so that panic is over! :)

I don't know if I can get any other tests ran (thyroid), but it can not hurt to ask, right?

I would suspect that menopause might be a problem, or low body fat, or not enough fluid,drink more water, or iron... you can try progesterone cream, progesterone stimulates the ovulating follicles... if that doesn't work, I betcha it's good ole menopause... with yer thyroid, there's a lot of other symptoms too....
