Robert! It's good to see you and Dorie posting again! (I saw her in the VT thread, not an appropriate place to break into just to say "hi") How are the two of you? Mac, when I placed the link, and when I click on it now, there are 3 columns - the one on the left showing the different subject areas available, the one on the right showing the different articles available within the chosen subject, and the one in the center showing the chosen article, which in this case has the headline Athletes Rescue Woman From Burning House. I just checked, and that's still where the link goes for me. But, as I was complaining about, it's a short article, so if no one else can follow the link to the article, I can copy and paste it here without taking up much room. Let me know. angelaid,I agree she needs to get a life other than minding other people's business.So sad you and other have to put up with this.I know a friend that does the same thing.She lives in what they call the Housing Project.She calls the office ever day telling on someone.She calls me ever day or ever other day telling me what she did that day,who she reported that day.Her poor neighbors is the one I feel for.I want so bad to tell her if she would try to be a friend than she would feel so much better and I bet they would too.So sad she lives like this.Greg calls her nosey because always minding other people's business.Life is too short to live like this.What is so sad,most of her neighbors are color folks and they have to put up with this.When I say its sad what I mean,she throws off on them and she seems to hate them and I tell her they have just as much right to live there as she and her 26 year old son.They do not work[my friend that is>They say they draw disabity checks from being mental.That is what she said.looks like if she is able to keep a check book,and other things she could work.She has never had surgery she said she just filed for disablity for both of them being mental.Everone to their own.Just my thought.She drives and ever thing.She signs up for ever charity getting someone to pay her power bill and all.Maybe I am wrong.I am not throwing off on her for being on disablity just saying I can not understand how she can draw off being mental and still able to read,write,keep house,drive,and do her checkbook.Between her son and her they draw way over 1000.00 a month.I know I got off the subject,But I had this on my mind as I was posting about people minding other people's business.Some will agree and not agree.Just MY thought.

I have always thought that what my Dad used to say is true: "We get too soon old, and too late smart." At this point in my life I feel that I have so much to offer as far as insight and advice, since I've really been there and done that... Yet, who wants to listen !?! I read this somewhere and had to laugh out loud: " Unsolicited advice is never welcomed with the enthusiasm that we imagine it will be." LOL Knowing this axiom does not stop me from generously slathering my good thoughts about! ;0)

Hi! I'm nor sure what you meant about feeling with my hands--that is, what was I feeling? Bear in mind I've had a hundred conversations today about the problem and my head is spinning. But I can post the progress right now. I don't really have to compare the two apartments to see if the complaining person's cold is not related to the furnace but to a need for more insulation, including sealing the windows. In fact, after my request (although he has forbidden me to 'bother him' over these kinds of issues) the old HOA's president shared that two years ago he'd called a furnace technician to say that they had determined the unit did indeed have an actual problem related to a bent or obstructed pipe. The solution had not been pursued due to 1. the owner's hearing problem, and 2. the owner's most probable rejection of the idea that fixing the problem was at her expense, since our heat is in common and the perception is that any fault with it is the expense of the association. In other words, the ordinary human problems. Who will pay problems. But perhaps not any of that. When I went upstairs to tell her these developments and that I would call the furnace company on Monday if she could get through the weekend (furnace companies and cardiac surgeons have in common that neither prefer to work on the weekends!), she shared that her heat had gone completely off. And it had. The baseboards were cold! So I checked her thermostat and saw that my previous setting of 77 degrees was gone. That was curious! So I set it again that high, and sat down while we grieved together about the whole thing, when suddenly -- she felt the baseboard in wonder--the heat had come back on! It's pretty clearly a thermostat thing--even though I had discounted that because it had already been changed out twice. But so what. I googled the model unit she has and it has a ton of problems, erratic behavior being one of them. Really El Cheapo. So I think possibly we're okay. We'll either learn how to control the beast, or get a better one. At least that's what she and I are hoping, she because she's 84 and poor, me because I'm 71 and tired and out of my league altogether, but it was this or live under a petty tyrant. You are so kind to respond to the need of a stranger. May God reward you. I am so appreciative.
