No period for four months

I'm 53, haven't had a period in four months. The last two nights I had trouble falling asleep. The room seemed hot and stuffy. Does this sound like hot flashes? I'm moody all the time, so there's no change in that dept. My last gyno visit was in December. I don't want to go back till my next check-up, in a year. They gave me a clean bill of health, plus mammo,pap, and bone density.

Well, you should go back... the older us women get, the more we should stay on top of things... cancers pop up so fast. It sounds to me that you are a good long way into perimenopause... but I really recommend that you discuss this with your gyno.

jannie, I am almost 49 years old. No period for me since Oct 2005. I have the same hot & stuffy feelings that you do. My dr. said "Welcome to menopause". Take 1 day at a time, I say.

hi Peggy, Well I'm now on day 40 of my cycle and NO period in sight! ugh....also, since I started the Maca supplement Yes it has helped my emotional rollercoaster a lot and took away ALL my anxiety but it has given me some other stuff to replace it with lol I have more gas, more frequent bowel movements (tmi lol) and now I'm BLOATED...I have been this way for over a week now in my UPPER abdomen. I'm going to the Gyne Feb 12 ( I do not need to be told to go to the Drs lol) and I'm going to try going back on the mini pill...where its only progesterone. Also I'm going to ask them to do a transvaginal sonogram to check my ovaries. That is my update for now :) Lisa

I get some hot flashes sometimes - but that is all I get. You can not tell, unless I am ripping some piece of clothing off. :) I feel fine. Great. I am increasing my weight bearing exercises to help with bone health. I also take magnesium (The Magnesium Miracle by Dr. Carolyn Dean). And Iodoral iodine along with 200 mcg of selenium. EVERY DAY. Then, there is the Vit D3 with K2. Vit C far away from the iodine. CoQ10. Resveratrol/grape seed/blueberry tabs. Gingko biloba. Sometimes some garlic. I just bought some cinnamon with milk thistle. My triglycerides always run high. I bought a blood test online and want to take the cinnamon for awhile to see if it helped at all. But, I feel no different. Well, there is NO PMS. No bloat. No ruined clothing. No buying pads/tampons. Free at last. Good luck and good health to you!!

OMG! 8 months no period and boom! There she is. And just when I thought the hot flashes and mood swings had let up. I so hope it doesn't start all over. Dear Lord I don't know if I can go thru that again
