Have you ever had a Hernia? :)
Comments (6)Tina, the hernia is right above a scar from gallbladder surgery I had years ago, Orthoscopic, and he said it could be from that, which is what you described. He also firmly believes coughing causes hernias, and I wouldn't be surprised because I have asthma and cough sometimes. Mona, it doesn't really hurt, I noticed it hurt some this morning when I bent down. Other than that, I can't tell I have it. No one can see it unless I were to wear a tight shirt. That I will NOT do. lol. It's about the size of an oval golfball, I was told it's small compared to other hernias. I'm going to try to give it a month or so and see what happens. If the pain increases, I'll definitely go see a surgeon about this. It could be a combination of both. Wodka, where is your mother's located at? Maybe this is karma for me cause knowing me, when I was a kid I probably laughed at old ladies with "bumps." lol. Karma has always came back to bite me. :)...See MoreThe best oysters ever. Period.
Comments (8)Wellfleets have been my local oysters for many years and I like them very much. They have a good briny flavor. Lately, oysters have started to be cultured in several other Cape Cod towns including my own and, being from essentially the same waters, they are all pretty much like Wellfleets. Cultivated oysters are nice because they have a more uniform shape and size. Another oyster I like very much is the Belon from Maine. They were originally from France. They are round, not elongated, so you get a well filled shell. I have enjoyed many an Apalachicola oyster but the ones from Northern waters are my favorites. I am sure those PEI oysters you had were delicious. Jim This post was edited by jimster on Fri, Dec 28, 12 at 16:00...See MoreHave you ever had an autoharp?
Comments (33)Snidely, I must say that's an unusual definition of true happiness. While there's a certain satisfaction in ridding oneself of unused (and, it is assumed, unwanted) items, and while I do conduct periodic purges of clothes and other expendables, I will always take pleasure in living among things that belonged to people I've loved and lost, and other things that remind me of happy times with them or with my family and friends still living. In my barn is a box of stuff from my parents' house that I still haven't gone through. The other day my son was over there when he heard a music box begin to play. The song was "Close to You," the old Carpenters hit. He tracked it down and found a heart-shaped music box belonging to my stepmother, who joined our family in the mid-1950s. Inside was this picture of her new family at the time: my dad with his mother and me. Will I ever get rid of the music box or the photo? Not a chance....See MoreHave you ever made/had sweet potato cornbread?
Comments (12)Well dang! I thought I had gotten it off Facebook or Pinterest but I can't find it and I'm not at home. I can add the recipe later. It's mashed sweet potatoes, white cornmeal mix, pumpkin pie spice (which I don't like so I used cinnamon), eggs, butter, a little sugar. I think that was all. It was really good....See Moreceleste_meno
