Natural menopause therapy? Alternative medicine?

I've been reading a lot of articles online about the supplement Lavada and how it's supposed to increase sexual desire and reduce vaginal dryness. Since I've been experiencing both effects of menopause, I was thinking about taking Lavada to help regain my intimate health. Does anyone have experience taking lavada and did it help increase your sexual desire?

Yes, my hormone therapy was diminishing my sex life. My girlfriend recommended Lavada not only for its botanicals and herbs but for its high iron content. Lavada actually made my libido overactive as my desire was stronger then it was before. I still use Lavada as a supplement to my hormone therapy. Last I checked, they give free samples on their site. I think (hope) doctors today have the mindset of sparing what organs they can. I've read/heard arguments on both sides of the story. Here's some info from the wall street journal health journal: Cutting Less More doctors are challenging the convention of removing the cervix during a hysterectomy. Here's why: * Pap smears have sharply reduced the incidence of cervical cancer. * Sparing the cervix reduces the risk of bladder damage. * Some doctors say it may improve sexual function. Some 600,000 hysterectomies are performed in the U.S. every year, making it the second-most common women's surgery after Caesarean section. It is done to remove cancers of the uterus or cervix, or more commonly to treat a painful condition called endometriosis or because of noncancerous uterine growths called fibroids. Prior to 1940, nearly all hysterectomies preserved the cervix because it was easier and safer given the lack of antibiotics and blood banks. But by the 1960s, removing the cervix, viewed as a cancer preventative at a time when Pap smears were still fairly new, became standard. Now the tide appears to be turning. In 2006, 9.7% of U.S. inpatient hysterectomies, which account for more than 90% of the procedures, preserved the cervix, compared with just 1.7% a decade earlier, according to federal data. ------- Just sharing that info, not saying they are right. Annie, I used to have those leg cramps, but it was every month when I had my period. In the 1970's I started reading Prevention magazine, which was not the slick mag it is now, and they talked about calcium deficiencies. One part of it was caused by using non-fat dairy (which I used to do) and they claimed it was necessary for you to digest fat with calcium to utilize it. The other part was an imbalance of calcium, magnesium and phosphorous, caused in part by drinking diet soda (an excess of phosphorous in those drinks leaching magnesium and calcium from your system). I always struggled with my weight, so both those things were part of my diet. They claimed that even calcium supplements, if they contained phosphorous (if you had excess phosphorous intake from soda) would not help the imbalance and your body would not utilize the calcium. I don't know if it's true or not, but what I did cured my leg aches every month. I found a liquid calcium, magnesium supplement (without phosphorous) and began taking it, along with switching to 1% dairy. If I would run out, or get out of the habit of taking it, I would get these terrible aches in my legs at the onset of my period. I remember several times when my legs would start this terrible aching, during my 1 hour commute, stopping at a health food store to get my calcium and chugging a bit of it in the car, then continuing on my way home. By the time I reached home the aching had stopped. It happened enough times that I became a true believer in their theory. So, even if you take calcium, read up on the best kind to take, see if it contains magnesium and phosphorus and if you drink soda, try to find a supplement without the phosphorus. Maureen57 I know exactly how you feel. I joined this forum 4 years ago and it saved my sanity. I haven't had a period for 3 years and before it stopped I had had at least 7 years of awful menopause symptoms. I thought I was beginning to get back to normal but in the past month I've been having nausea, dizziness, irritability, mood swings and sweats again! When I see how many others this is happening to I feel like just giving up. As I type this now I am in tears. I have never taken anything the doctor prescribed and only gone down the natural route. I have spent thousands of pounds on vitamins(which I regularly take)and hormone creams. I watch what I eat.What else can I/we do? I said to my husband just the other day that I preferred having periods to this! I'm 53 and don't want the rest of my life to be like this. Its a truly depressing thought. Once again, this forum will be my saving grace as I know I'm not the only one.

i would like to thank this site from the bottom of my heart i am suffering from all of the above and although i have tried to explain how i have been feeling to my family it has not come out quite right. i have often resorted to saying as many woman do theres nothing wrong im fine which has made them especially my partner whom i adore feel like they themselves are the cause of my unhappiness. i was thrown into the menopause five years ago at the age of 44 due to the sudden loss of my beautifull mom then due to her death two years on my dad deceided to join her. i knew i was in the menopause but in january i hit a low that i have not been able to claw myself back from i have tried to deal with it on my own but realised last week that i was unable to ihave to as you all above had numerous symptoms hot flushes during the day night sweats aches pains dizziness complete loss of sex drive(very active before) vaginal dryness crying hugh mood swings from one minute to the next but the loss of emotion is my worst symptom. i deceided i needed to tell my family what was happening but all i could muster was moans and groans and im old old old and so very sad. so i trawled lots of sites to help me find the right words and none of them helped, then i found this site and i rang my partner and read each comment to him i spent three hours on the phone with him as this enabled me to talk to him and show him how life had become for me i then went on to explain to my daughter last night today i got out of bed feeling happy for the first time in a long time that i have now shared how im feeling and that my family are going to help in everyway they can especially my beautifull partner who is kind sensitive and has felt that he was causing my unhappiness not only have you helped me but i have introduced a friend to the site and she breathed as she read it. im now ready to do battle and will combat this awfull stage in my life. but can i say to all ladies out there do not hold it in share it with your loved ones thankyou so much xxxxx

I just checked out the site and was concerned about the same thing. So I called them and they said they no longer do subscription billings and I can buy a month supply without any commitments. Sounds like they fixed that issue.

I'll respost my results from taking Lavada in a few weeks.

l have also read that you can drink alot of water , having sex more often to increase lubrications. being more loving holding hands ,touching other than sex, talking to you partner about your like and dislike.

So I received my Lavada in the mail and have been taking it for over a week now. As skeptical as I was, I have to say it definitely helped increase my sexual desire and made our sex less painful since I'm no longer suffering from dryness.

On top of that, I feel more energetic too. They also gave me a free breast cancer awareness bracelet when I ordered my lavada. It's nice to see a company giving back to research for once.

eplina, As much as that may help psychologically, you can't deny the physical changes we go through during menopause. That's why women need supplements like lavada to help balance everything out.

Special attention should be given to the fact that the progestin component of the HRT, medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is branded under the name Provera, is NOT the same thing as bio-identical or natural progesterone, produced by a human body. The two are vastly different chemicals.
