HRT and mood swings?
Comments (6)I've been on the combi patch for almost a year now... I don't remember getting weepy at all... but I was already at my wits end with my life/family/insomnia/hot flashes prior to starting the patches that as long as all those things improved I probably wouldn't have noticed anything else going on! I do remember that the dr was very insistent that I come back I think in 6 weeks and then at another 6 week point when I started them, to make sure all was ok and that dose levels didn't need to be higher... supposedly this patch is the lowest HRT available?? anyway, I think the schedule was 6 weeks, 3 months, then 6 months later, and then 1 year from the sttart... thus I see the dr again next month... Give it some time... do you have a followup appointment scheduled? If not, maybe that's in order for the dr to re-assess your and the dosage. Isn't it wonderful to start to feel semi-normal once again??? My 15 yo DD calls them my 'happy hormones' and if I'm at all crabby will ask if my patch is due to be changed!!!!...See MoreCan Peri-Menopause Reverse?
Comments (3)Boy, can I relate to this post. I could of wrote this myself. I had an FSH of 29 two years ago, along with horrible symptoms of irregular heartbeats , extreme anxiety, Insomnia...on and on. The Doc said early Menopause, I had it retested last month, it was 4 !!!!! I had the same reaction as you... I am expecting the worst, as some of my symptoms have lessened , now I am thinking it will all start over full force. I had waited to re-test the FSH , and thought that maybe I was Post , as I have felt somewhat better with some of the symptoms... I had my Uterus removed 15 years ago, so no periods to help establish where I am in all this. I am confused as to what this all means just like you, You are the first one I have found to have the same issue, sorry for you, but a relief for me to have someone to talk to !! I am wondering if it has something to do with he Thyroid.. as I am Hypothyroid, with Hashimotos Disease. I was curious before, but now I see you have Thyroid issues also, wondering if there is a connection... the Thyroid is part of the Endocrine system like the Ovaries ... Anyways, I feel like I am rambling.. just know that you are not alone, and I hope you fee better knowing that someone else is dealing with the same craziness, I know I sure do. Peace, Rebecca...See MoreAmberen
Comments (1)I have been in perimenopause for a year and so far i have opted not to do any form of hrt because once you stop the hrt you gotta start all over again with the symptoms because you have been subsituting what is naturally waning all hrt sounds too good to be true i would personally carry on as long as you can without it if you can cope with your symptoms...See Moregetting off HRT
Comments (7)Hi shotzy....so you are on pills? How much? I guess I shouldn't even be coaching you, since I was on a combi-patch, not a pill. But if I were going to do a pill, I would think that whatever causes the least fluctuations would be best. I would think that would be something like slowly cutting the pill smaller and smaller every day. That's what I did with my patch. It seems that if you take the same amount of pill every couple of days, there is more likely to be ups and downs. I took about 6 weeks to come off it completely. But don't be surprised if its a rough ride. But please stick to it. Just know ahead of time that it might not be fun. I think it takes 2 months more after that, to really know what you're going to feel like off it. Good luck to you!...See Moreplumbly22
