Let's complain about the heat
Comments (32)Kevin, thanks for the info on callas. I wasn't having much luck finding any info on my own when I googled it. I'm going to have hundreds of them next year, even if the seeds don't germinate. Last year I started with 6 bulbs. They multiplied and this year I have 45. I can overwinter them in the ground here except squirrels eat the bulbs. Last winter they were in a pot and the squirrels missed them. Hey, Laurie, cute costumes. Here in the south we don't have to go to all that trouble to turn into a sunflower. All you have to do is dye your hair blond and not put any spray or gel in it and by 10 a.m., it's frizzed out in all directions. And good lord, yes, your utility bills are high. My electric bill with the AC on 24/7, albeit most of the day I have it set at 85 degrees, is only about $60 a month. I drop it to 80 or less if someone is coming over, or I'm cleaning, and later in the afternoon otherwise I don't eat. Nothing worse than breaking out in a serious sweat because of the energy provided by whatever I eat for supper. I hate it when I feel like I have to take a shower just because I ate a salad. It seems the heat has us so worn out we can't even really complain about it, although this weekend it's a little better. Laura...See MoreDo Gardeners Marry Each Other?
Comments (60)A very interesting thread...my first had none of it, work of any kind was an anethma to her.....my second...we met online, and among her pics and bio were garden pics...and I thought, "wow, a gardener!"...well, turns out, DW of 3 yrs likes to look at the gardens , and look at the butterflies...and she is so patient about my endless hours outdoors, late winter evenings standing in the rain as I "draw in my head" with a shovel.....and spend summer weekends doing this and that....and she'll love the finished product.... Now...I always had the dream I'd fall in love in a garden...a chance encounter...finding that beautiful woman...feminine...yet unafraid to get her hands dirty... in overalls with her hair back digging a hole and planting something....I guess the real reason...is that if you look at true gardeners...(not the chemically sterilized flowers in rows) but a true gardener...who loves and lives all aspects and creaturs of the garden...who has an appreciation for the diversity of the web of life in the garden...then that person is a nurturer...and nurturers are the most loving people I have ever met... I always thought the creation story was in the garden for a reason...that we have left the garden...and until we return...we won't truly appreciate those things greater than we are...my garden is where I talk to my late father (who taught me the love)..it's where I see miracles and creatures great and small....and I have often thought of a relationship between a couple in the garden analogy....that love is like a garden....it will have sun shine, and will endure storms....wind...rain...weeds....but if the master gardener tends lovingly to the garden.....prunes, weeds, fertilizes.....s(he) will harvest something that is of such awe and wonder....for love is ultimately a great mystery....and one that never loses it's dynamics in a garden..and a tended garden never loses it's mystery....but ratehr grows more beautiful with the passing of each year.... And so I hope the same for my love and my garden......See MoreRecently married -- DH wont tell his kids
Comments (29)I remember helenar all your previous posts and you cheated with this man before he was officially divorced. You are the other woman to begin with. So dont' complain about your Dh not telling his kids he married you. It was a small wedding because the fact is, YOUR THEOTHER WOMAN. So who is going to support this wedding? Obviously a small crowd. I dont care if his marriage was dead for the last 5 years. There are ups and downs in my marriage. Does that give me the right to go F someone else and start seeing someone else while having kids? NO! You signed a iron clad contract. Good for you. I'm not saying you are a gold digger. Cause u signed it. BUT, you didn't want to work and you wanted him to support you. His kids and exwife probably thought you were a leach. I'm not saying you are one. I do not know you well enough to say that about your character. But from your previous posts, about sitting in the back of the church etc.e.tc.. and now complaining that your DH wont show off your marriage to him. It began on questionalbe terms to begin with .I'm surprised he married you . Yes he may have fallen in love. and you may be great together helenar. BUt you both got together while he was still married. Stillunder contract. Your foundations were built on cracked ground. Dont cry wolf now. You built it this way with hiim. Now live with the consequences....See MoreNote to ppl who complain about ppl buying steak with foodstamps
Comments (66)I don't recieve food stamps and never have. I wouldn't know if someone in the store was using them or their own cash. That being said I agree the system is not run correctly. My husband is almost 68 and has always been a hard worker but weeks ago he became very ill and had to stop working. We are raising our grandsons ages 7&8 . For the first time in our lives we ask the state for help for groceries. We went into the assistance office and filled out papers and submitted doctors letters..we were denied any help..they said my husband will return to work eventually in the next month and we will have an income again. I could not believe this, my husband has always been a hard worker supporting his family and yet we could get no help to feed these children..I am so sick of the struggle this month and to ask for help after a life of never doing so to be turned down...words can't even describe the feeling of ...no where to turn....so who does get help? Old people can't get it after a life of hard dedicated work to feed children. ..who does get the help? Drug addicts? Young able bodied? Who?...See Moredcrowex
