Urgent. Is Panasonic Whisperwarm fan too big for us?
Comments (5)I have a whisperwarm in our 6x6 downstairs bathroom. I do think it is large compared to my other panasonic whisper fan, but I don't notice it anymore. It was a necessity because this room is in an addition and is the last room in the house to heat up. It can be very, very cold in there in the winter. I have the heater on a timer so it comes on automatically on cold mornings and the room is nice and toasty at shower time. So, while I do think the unit is larger than the standard vent fan, I love the heat element. Also, it's not very quiet so I don't think it deserves the label "whisperwarm." I believe Broan makes fans with heater elements but I don't think they are much smaller. There is a round Broan I was considering, but I thought the Panasonic would do a better job....See MoreHow do you change your husband's mind?
Comments (32)Dh & I talked about it, and have started working on an overall plan. I made chart listing changes one or both of us want to make, and whether they would help sell. Dh wants to approach it as if this were just a house we wanted to flip, putting the least amount of money & effort for the biggest impact. And that is probably a good idea. If it works out that we don't need to live within a few yards of mil and we keep the house, we can still expand the one bedroom and enlarge our closet without tearing up too much of what we do now. A few of you have mentioned that we've lived with this closet for 15 years and it is just now a problem. But that isn't the case really. The closet has always been something I wanted to change, and at one point it was for dh too. BUT, we have a walk in closet in the family room and dh took it over for his sporting equipment. We have a walk in closet in the garage and dh took it over for his work related stuff. So yeah, now the closet isn't a problem for dh, but even more so for me because now my stuff has been squeezed out of the other two closets. When we were talking today, dh said he has a lot of seasonal clothes he could put in another closet. One guest room closet is packed with our "this doesn't fit right now" clothes, and the other guest room closet is empty, but I told him I have dibs on it for MY sewing stuff. It's only 2x4' but beats nothing. And yes, we need face the fact that neither of us are going to lose weight and get rid of the clothes that don't fit. That will be another small closet open. jak1, that is probably the best idea - a free standing wardrobe. We have an armoire on the wall next to the closet now, but no hanging space. I could probably rework what is in it now, fold a lot of dh's t-shirts and maybe put baskets on top and ease the crowding in our closet....See MoreCeiling fans and whole house fans in older MHs?
Comments (9)Hi wantoretire_did! Thank you so much for the suggestions! I've been meaning to get to HD and my local ACE for a walk-about. I'm going to go when I have a couple of hours and don't have to rush around. Just walk around with my trusty legal pad and take notes. Lighting is a big part of what I want to look at. I really appreciate your suggestion because that didn't even cross my mind! I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of the fixtures in my house are original, and at 37, they need to retire, lol! I just can't see paying some guy from CL for the rest of my life to come replace bulbs and wash the fixtures! I have electric burners, but I can see how that could easily happen with gas. I'm pretty much leaning against the ceiling fans now; cathyyg made very good points, and these seven ft. ceilings feel so low already, even at my height, that I fear the fans would just draw attention to them. We've got a good system with the fans now, and I don't think ceiling fans are as necessary as I thought they were when I first posted this. Yes! Taking lots of pictures! :-) I hope all is well with you and yours!...See MoreHusband says, "Kitchen backsplash going up over Thanksgiving week"!
Comments (32)Thank you all very much for the wonderful suggestions for us to consider! It is a work in progress so hopefully we will pull it all together in the end. Annette Holbrook: I love the color you proposed and have it in a lot of accessories for kitchen (not pictured) and elsewhere in decor so thank you! As for the layout - the only part not working to the fullest is the dishwasher location when unloading dishes that need to go directly above the dishwasher. However, we did not want to change the footprint involving moving plumbing etc. The island was added to provide more counter and storage space which limits space when unloading dishes to the cabinets above the dishwasher. So I unload to the counter first, then close the dishwasher door to put dishes in that cabinet. Small price for the storage and counter space gained. Everything else working out....See Morethermometer
